Who cares if they are a foot note or not?

Actually, you are wrong about that too.

The Cavs and that Chip are so deeply entwined with Lebron's legacy that they will be remembered as long as he is.

He did the impossible. Beat a 73 win team and turned a Sports City known for failure into a Champion.

Back to the original topic...

You said Toronto was just as good or better during that period.

You are wrong.

The Cavs beat the Raptors 10 CONSECUTIVE TIMES in the playoffs..

10!!!!

You can't be someone's equal when they snatch the life out of you 10 straight times.

The Cavs owned the Raptors. Their players knew it, their coaches knew it and so does any fan that paid attention to the NBA as a whole.

Nobody has lorded over the Raptors like King James. He has won 80% of the time when he has suited up against them (41-10 in the regular season, 8-2 in the playoffs, including last year’s sweep), with averages of 27.7 points, 7.7 assists and 7.1 rebounds in the non-post-season meetings.

"The last three years have been rough for us, competing against this team," DeRozan said. "Maybe they just got our number. Things just don't go right for us."

“We want to be the organization who knocks that gate down. For whatever reason, we got the unlucky draw every year of going against him.” — Casey

th
You're stepping up to defend the Cavs and I was defending the Clips with you telling me I was making excuses (for your team).

Must be halloween.

Though while you might not like the Cavs I hope your teams wins it all this year if I had to choose a team.

That one Cavs championship is worth just as much as the Raptors championship. Nothing more, nothing less.

it may be more important to the people of Cleveland but to the rest of the world they’re exactly the same.
But you are trying to say the Toronto run was on par which is silly. Never mind doubling, tripling, etc down on your irrational.

And how are they exactly the same "to everyone else" when non Cavalier fans have said they disagree?

Draymond is an idiot

He was allowed to run his mouth to long

Lets see how good he is now without all the protection he has around him

Time for him to shrink to nothing now. Just a middle of the pack player on a bad team...he is who we thought he was lol

So is that Cavs championship worth any more than the Raptors?
Nope......but their 5 year run which included 4 more trips and 3 series wins over the Raptors makes their run more impressive...and it's not really close. And that was the discussion.

not goalpost moving imo. more like bottom lining...

Just my opinion, though...
I wasn't here when this debate started.

So, maybe I'm making assumptions about the time frame.

I'm assuming we are talking about Lebron's 2nd stint with the Cavs.

If that is the time frame, that era ended when LeBron joined the Lakers.

The Cavs had one title, the Raptors had zero.

Not equal.

Yeah, I just find it odd.

Like, I hate y'all.

But, I can put that to the side long enough to have a rational discussion....lol

Don't get me wrong, any realistic chance I see to pick another team/ player over one of yours, I'm all over it.

*See Duncan vs. Kobe

But, this isn't that.

Saying Toronto's run is equivalent to the Cavs is more like saying the Dream Rockets were equivalent to the Jordan Bulls.

How can you say that when you couldn't win your title until Jordan and LeBron were gone?

Could they have beaten LeBron with Kawhi?

Very possible.

But, they didn't.

So, how was their run the same?

They had zero titles in the Cavs hayday.

So, if it's just about the rings, Cavs 1 Raps 0.
Hell, I'll even say our 1 title no better or worse than theirs. But saying their "run" compares to ours is beyond irrational.

Embiid goes on instagram to keep talking.

He like really need to mature at some point.

You're 25 turning 26 in a couple of months. Have to stop acting like a teenager eventually
Maybe someone can take him and Baker aside together?

agree with what you said but wasn't really the debate...was whether the Raptors and their 1 title were on par with the cavs and their 1, while playing for 3 others and knocking out Toronto 3 times.

Seems absurd to me, but yeah everyone is entitled to their opinion...even if it's wrong (sorry @msgkings322 , do I need to cite you?).

I know what the debate was, I wasn't speaking specifically to the debate.

As for the debate, The Cavs didn't knock out the Toronto team that won the title. The title team was led by Kawhi, not DeRozan. So personally, I don't really count the 3 previous losses against Toronto.

On the surface, the titles are very similar. Each team had the best player in the game leading a pretty average roster to a title.

Each teams first title.

But I think the Cavs title carries more weight because of, as others have pointed out, what the Cavs had to overcome. That was a 73 win team and they had the Cavs down 3-1. It was a game 7 on the road. While the Warriors weren't 100%, they were far healthier than the team the Raptors faced.

Add to that, Lebron being from Akron and it's pretty hard to not give the Cavs title more weight.

Having said all of that, fuck both teams I'm sure their fans will enjoy the only titles their teams will ever see equally. :D

To be fair, it was more the Cavs run vs. Toronto's "run" which included their title last season

understood...

for my part in it, i'm talking about the overall picture...

I think it's equally fair(or i guess UNfair) to all the teams involved...

Raps went 19-5 on load management games.

Will be interesting to see how well the Clips do.

Of course having no Paul is another story but home court could determine things in the playoffs
Did you know that Siakam was going to be......this?

Holy Shit.

This is like Greek Freakish like jumps in skills, production.

He is really good.

If it's historically, no question Raptors.

They haven't been in existence as long.

I thought we were talking about a very specific point in time.

Brutal. I want to see what they look like with their THREE injured centers back, but if they still don't look good they need to tank a palooza. Keep Klay out all year, rest the high mileage vets, develop rookies, and get a lottery pick to re-group next year.

That's what the Spurs did, Sean Elliott was out all year, they tanked, got the #1 pick: Duncan

Warriors don't even need a Duncan level guy. A top ten pick will give them DEPTH to go with the 3 stars.

Even if they squeak into the playoffs they are obviously not winning anything. Why bother?
Actually Robinson was out in order to get Duncan, but I agree with the strategy.

That was my question mark about them going into the season.

Is Siakam as good as he looked last season? Or was he a product of all of the attention teams had to give Kawhi?

It's still early, but so far, he's actually better than he looked last season.

Yes success is only measured in championships. When did they start handing out prizes for 2nd place in the NBA? Or beatdowns on the way to the Finals?

Why does this seem like you're taking it so personal? You really think my mind gets made up by certain posters on this board? Give me a break here.

I'm a Lakers fan. We can sweep through the entire Western Conference by a margin of 50 points a game, but if they lost game 7 of the Finals by just one point I won't be happy. That's not a success in my eyes. Nor will it be for thousands of other Lakers fans.

One minute its 'agree to disagree', the next i'm apparently being ridiculous because I don't share your opinion.

How about we call it a night and just accept we don't see eye to eye on the matter and move on?
So in your mind the last 5 years the Knicks = Houston?
