Watch what u wish for. Clemson said that one year..... they got cocky

Miami did too

Penn state thought they’d roll

Ucf had us for dead

Pitt does weird things

Lets not forget 2007 with WVU as well

I don't know if UCF is better than Boise St. or if Pitt would beat Boise. I simply support a system in which the top teams, especially if they get through a season undefeated, get a chance to show how good they are in some kind of a playoff. I think that top G5 schools should be included in this. Frankly, in the system that we have now, it's almost impossible for any G5 team to do that. The math doesn't work. In the case of UCF last year, I never could figure out about how getting those three games cancelled effected them. Boise had it's bowl game nullified and had to move it's opening game this year to Tallahassee. So far, it's worked out good for Boise, we got to add a true road game win instead of a "sort of" neutral site game. :scratch:

Boise State has been willing to play big teams, UCF has no desire to do the same.

Pitt is a very dangerous team because of the extremely aggressive type of defense they play don't be fooled by there 1-2 record.

That's almost as embarrassing as U.C.F. losing to a bad (1-2) Pittsburgh team.

The only problem I see this year is that Boise played FCS Portland St., a game I certainly didn't support scheduling. But otherwise, Boise wouldn't have been able to have 6 home games. That's something the big schools don't get when they are only willing to play G5 teams at home. Someone then at a lower level, has to take a road game to an FBS school.

Often even the higher P5s will take 2 for 1s.

Painful loss. And now you’ll get to deal with a bunch of douches from out the woodwork to cut your program down. I have to admit I’m shocked UCF dropped this game. I actually thought they’d blow them out.
They should know that "the douches" as you labelled them, are only responding to one tool who may actually be an alt for a similar Oregon fan.

Exactly. So, to balance out a 2 for 1, you have to schedule an FCS school, who then has to schedule a d-2 school, and so on, down the line. That kind of scheduling ended up killing Idaho who ended up spending all its time on the road, hiring itself out as the weekly victim. Now the Vandals are a mediocre FCS team who will be lucky to break .500. Their latest "road warrior" episode was playing Penn St., where they valiantly lost 79-7! As someone from Idaho, that is as embarrassing as it gets!

But then they take Wyoming to the brink and beat Eastern Washington. Wth

The Group of 5 teams don’t have the money and the power to call the shots. That’s why Boise struggles to get six home games every year. But we do have Florida State, Oklahoma State and Michigan State coming to the Blue in the next few years. I’ll take it.

You are absolutely correct, but let's do the math. Most schools play 8 conference games, half and half road and home in mostly familiar stadiums. That leaves 4 games. If the only way to get a good P5 team on the schedule is to take a 2 for 1, then you are pretty much forced to take a low end team willing to come to your place for a one and done road game. PSU is a good team, from the area, and so on. But still...

I guess Boise could "choose" to join the Big Sky again too. But no one can build a program, fan base, or a consistent winning record by not having at least 6 legitimate home games against decent opponents. That math whizzes right over the heads of many fans. The bonus for being a Boise fan, though, is at least we get to travel all over the country to take on those games. My best experience was going to Georgia and watching Kellen Moore carve up the Bulldogs. But then, a missed field goal in Reno.... Well, maybe this year! :D:hope:

Why are you "forced" to schedule a FCS teams in your scenario?

Well, it isn't like Oregon wants to come to Boise, at least not right away. :scratch:

Here's a sample 3 year schedule for you. You aren't "forced" to schedule FCS teams, you are choosing to.

Year 1:
@P5 1
@P5 2
P5 3 - Home
P5 4 - Neutral Site

Year 2:
P5 1 - Home
@P5 3
@P5 2
P5 5 - Neutral Site

Year 3:
@P5 1
@P5 3
P5 2 - Home
P5 6 - Neutral Site

But the Ducks are doing a home and home in 2025 and 26. So there's hope of rekindling that rivalry.

It'll most likely be some spite and they drop out the top 25 completely. Hopefully not as they shouldn't. Keep your head up @KnightAndDay @Terry Rode @UCFhonors

Why shouldn't they? Pitt is a bad loss for any team and UCF's best win is against a 1-3 Stanford team. They can definitely climb back in, but after just 4 games with a loss to a 2 loss team and a weak schedule, no, they shouldn't be ranked.

I agree, no one is forced to do anything. But BYU is almost a de facto conference member, we play them every year save one for the next decade. So that leaves only 3 open games. I'm pretty proud of who we are playing, Florida St., Houston, Ok St, Mich. St., Or. St., Wazzou, and even Oregon in 2025. As I've said before, it's a matter of math, sometimes the only school available is an FCS one. In Boise's defense, they only do it rarely, PSU is only the third since Boise started it's run. SEC schools hire one of those patsies pretty much every year.

How many P5 schools do SEC teams play?

He’s right. I think they are one of the top 25 teams in the country but their resume leaves them on the outside looking in for now. One of those teams towards the front of the “others receiving votes” category.
