Never should’ve given up nets 2018 in that deal.

Bear and the clippers pick sure. Never the nets.
If Kyrie wasn't such a headcase than that's a quibble, IMO.

You go and get the bonafide star every time and don't look back.

Unfortunately, Kyrie is a pretty big negative when it comes to non-basketball stuff... so... :noidea:

It was too much with a guy like IT in there.

I agree with Danny trading IT. Just not the way he did.

Like i said, with crowder Zizic and Bear, the clippers pick should’ve been enough

Plus, you might have kawhi now.

I had no problem with the trade. A fair criticism could be tho that Danny should have traded Kyrie at the deadline last winter. Or even earlier.

Danny May have gotten fleeced by Kyrie

At the same time, though... we had to see what a Kyrie-led Celtics team looked like in the playoffs.

If we never saw that... if Ainge traded Kyrie before that... that would be nutz. It's impossible to fathom, really.

Hindsight is 20/20.

Fair argument. Still, Kyrie pulled a sham imo

It's unfortunate that Kyrie is the type of guy he is.

:noidea:

Whatareyougonnado? It was still the right move to take a chance on Kyrie over IT... there was a clear, obvious ceiling with IT... just didn't work out.

Dems the breaks.

But you don’t mortgage the future the way Danny did.

Gotta keep the Brooklyn pick. Have to.

That consideration has to be balanced against taking shots.

If you always play for the future, you're likely never going to win a title in any present.

This shot didn't work out... but it was a reasonable chance to take, and makes sense it context (the context that the C's had maxed out with IT at the helm).

I had no problem trading It.

But they needed more than kyrie already to beat GS.

Can’t give up the kind of pick that can land you top talent for a guy who Boston wasn’t even on his destination list.

I thought it was too much also.

But, it wasn't.

IT was damaged to the extent that he might not be good enough to play in the NBA anymore, let alone be a difference maker.

You essentially gave Crowder and the 8 pick for a 2 year rental of Kyrie.

It did not work, but the Celtics did not give too much. Cavs got the better end long term, Boston short term. That is a solid NBA trade.

That's a risk you take. Kyrie is a game changing talent and if he could have kept his head straight, the Celtics could have been a title contender.

Pretty big bump.

After years of forward momentum... this is a total blow up of any near term title hopes.

I'm not quite sure where Hayward fits in. We're not competing for a title any time in the foreseeable future.

So... we're left to hope on the development of Tatum... hope on the value of the Memphis pick. Brown is a decent starter, Smart has some grit... and...

:faint:

Yeah.
I'd at least wait and see what they can get in FA. Who knows?

Hindsight, maybe, but Sexton (or someone taken after him) gets them by GS?

Use that pick to get Kawhi or brow. Plus they could’ve traded for brow at the trade deadline.

That pick was not a pick anymore (it was a player) by the time AD asked to be moved.

They had enough to get AD or Kawhi and didn't....with or without that pick.

It was a pick that’s better than the 4th overall pick this year.
