Oh, he'll provide some for this year's draft, but you'll have to wait until next year after he's had the chance to see them all play for a year.So when Snuggles is challenged to provide some names for this year's draft he disappears.
"Phase 3" as JS calls it is now underway. I think we are probably going to add 2 vets to the DL -- a run stuffer and then whomever among the available edge guys they think has the best chance to hold down a role. Suh and Shelton are still out there. For pass rushers, there are several options. And as has been posted, those who were cut by their teams wouldn't impact 2020 comp picks; those who are FAs must be signed after May 7th or they'll count against us. I doubt the FO will be held hostage by that, but I'm sure it's at least a minor consideration.
Nick Perry would be interesting. Recruited by PC at USC, committed, then de-committed once Pete flew north to Seattle.
I can't imagine JS signs anyone prior to May 7th that would count against the comp picks. I think once that day comes you're gonna see a run on these pass rush/run stuffers. Hopefully we are at the front of the line to scoop up at least two as you said.
Depends on how much they value the guys they want to sign and if they are at risk of losing them to another team before May 7th deadline for UFA's... I believe the team has 11 picks next year, not including comp picks so I wouldn't be surprised if it were to happen...
If they are targeting a buy low one year rental I think they wait until the 7th. If there's someone they value beyond a year that they can now afford since dealing Frank they may deem it worthy enough to forfeit a pick. Knowing how much this front office values their draft picks I can't imagine they'll be lose with this decision. Who know's, after watching this year we may turn 11 picks next year into 30 by the end of next years draft.
I would be very surprised to see them make a move for any player that would cost them a pick. At this point, I doubt many teams would do that. The cut off a little over a week away.
I'm surprised we haven't signed Nick Perry yet if indeed we're very interested in him... He won't lose us a comp pick if signed prior to the May 7th deadline because he was cut by GB...
Ziggy Ansah reportedly in town...turns 30 next month, had 4 sacks in an injury-shortened 7 game season last year. He's probably the guy we need to add to soften the blow of losing Frank Clark and give the greenhorns a little time & space to get it together at the NFL level. If we land him, the starting DL may look like: Jefferson-Reed-Ford-Ansah. Far from settled though, with Jacob Martin & Cassius Marsh likely pushing for a bigger role at DE. Poona Ford looked really good last year, and you also have Naz Jones & Rasheem Green. Whatever Collier does as a rookie is probably just a bonus. I don't think that would be a terrible DL group. For sure not as good as 2013 or what we started out with in 2017 before injuries ripped it apart, but I think it could be decent..
