You have never argued that JVR back checks or block shots but you failed add those types of stats which is actual hockey not fantasy hockey.

You say to win hockey you have to outscore the other teams which is true. So since we have lost badly and have a terrible record with all of these players including Giroux that makes a good point to trade him and all the others that have been on this team for the last 7 years.

Andddd pivot.

Andddd pivot.

Again You post stats from a tiny sample against back up goalies in a meaningless season. Please get back to me when the minutes are equal. Already answered.

Second youre the one who posted about wins being the most important stats not me so you ignited the pivot by wanting to keep a losing team together while trying to tout wins as your point on JVR

JVR 214 Gs 202 As 416 Pts 74 BS 196 hits minus 37

Second your the one who posted about wins being the most important stats not me so you ignited the pivot by wanting to keep a losing team together while trying to tout wins as your point on JVR

1. Swing and a miss. It's stats going back 9 years and 15 hours of playing together. You have a very skewed idea of small sample size if that qualifies.

2. I was very on point. JvR is a better offensive player than the guys you listed and it's not just the "Giroux effect" because when he plays with Giroux vs when other guys play with Giroux, JvR is better.

You don't like JvR because he doesn't hit people. And you make up bull shit to justify your position. It's ok to not like him because he doesn't hit people. He frustrates me with his soft play and lack of back checking too. But you make yourself look ridiculous trying to argue that he's a bad hockey player. He's a very good hockey player. He's only good at one thing, but it just so happens to be the most important thing in hockey. Scoring goals.

You won't find a single instance where a team out hit, out hearted, outskated, out stuck up for their teammates, out back checked, whatever else you want to throw out there; and won a game without scoring more goals than the other team. You'll find thousands of games across the history of the NHL where the reverse is true. Goals win games.

Of course I'd rather him do the other things. The "little things" as they call them (because "big things" are goals). But teams make sacrifices with goal scorers every god damn day because goal scorers win hockey games. On the broadcast just last night they called out Laine for being a lazy POS back checking too, you think it makes sense for Winnipeg to dump him for it?

You know who does all the "little things"? Varone, Vandevelde, Bellamare, Weiss, Lehtera, Weal, Hagg, Laughton, Read, Leier, Raffl, Lyubimov, Gordon, Filpula, Cousins, White, Rinaldo, Hall, McGinn, Talbot, Wellwood, Zolniercyzk, Nodl and all the other bottom 6 guys that have rotated throughout this team in the past 5-6 years. You know what they didn't do? Score goals. And the Flyers lost a lot of games because of it.

Those blocked shots and hits are really adding up on the scoreboard! -20 worse than JvR! (in your defense, +/- is flawed and doesn't include PP, which would help both of these guys I expect)

And you left off games played again. JvR .64 points/game, Simmonds only .57.

Simmonds tears up JVR in every single category

PPG means Big Puss was hurt all the time and was too afraid to jump to the NHL right after getting drafted thus earnig his name of Big Puss

As all those stats listed Simmonds by far the better player and we are getting rid of him for a far inferior player. It is a sad state when a player who doesn't do anything else but score is outscored by a player we are looking to trade.

It's 9 fucking seasons dude!!! Stop saying it's one meaningless season against back up goalies with no actual proof of that. Jesus Christ I assumed you saw that but I guess you didn't or are choosing to ignore it.

Lol. Now we're down to saying he's worse because he gets hurt sometimes (not even a lot by NHL standards)? Perfect. Simmonds is a warrior, there's no denying that. But was Simmonds really helping the team last year playing through all his injuries? Or would they have been better off if he had just taken 10-20 games off in the fall, got healthy, and been ready for the playoffs?

I've said this multiple times in this thread, all things being equal I'd take Simmonds over JvR. Offensively they're very similar players. Simmonds brings more than just offense. All i'm trying to do with this argument is show that JvR is not useless, he doesn't suck.

And all things aren't equal. Simmonds is breaking down, I think we all see that between last year and this year. The years of 'doing the little things' that JvR wasn't doing is taking it's toll. On top of that, JvR was signed to a 5 year x $7M deal, the first year of his deal he's 29. Simmonds will likely be looking for a similar 5x$7 deal, but he'll be starting that contract at 31. Simmonds is 2 years older (@ contract start) AND plays a harder game than JvR. I'd rather have JvR on that deal because I think he'll be more productive over the length of his contract.

JVR is useless and does suck at everything else except standing in front and tipping in a puck that all four other players one the ice have to work to get because they are playing 4 on 5 every shift.

Thank you for removing the back up goalie and one season nonsense. That's all I was asking for.

He can sit in the corner shoving his stick up his ass for all I care. As long as the Flyers are outscoring their opponents with him on the ice, which they do when he plays with good players.

The part with the back up goalies is relevant because his goals and points were added to those stats from the last few weeks to make him look better.

What is our record with him in the line up?

I'm not going around in this circle again. Hockey is a team game. The Flyers have players that suck in all facets of the game. I don't make a habit of blaming the good players for a bad record. I blame the bad record on not having enough good players. And I solve that by adding good players, not by getting rid of the good players I have.

The entire Flyers team makes back up goalies look like the second coming of Patrick Roy! :suds:

Thats the whole problem here is you consider JVR a good player.

He is a good player. There's no 'considering' here. This one IS a fact. That's why NHL GM's keep paying him millions of dollars. If you can score 30 goals in the NHL on a regular basis you ARE a good hockey player. It doesn't matter what else you do.
