Are you serious or just being sarcastic?

Naomi Osaka grew up in the United States and is a dual citizen of the United States and Japan. I think it's okay to consider her American.

I think Osaka's on the verge of greatness. She wins the final, that'll be 2 straight majors for her.

Kvitova is favored, but I think that Osaka should actually be the favorite. She hits hard like Kvitova, but she moves better and is in better shape.

I thought Article 15 of the Japan Nationality Act forbids Japanese citizen who has other naturalized citizenship such as American to forgo his/her non-Japanese citizenship? Isn't that the reason Naomi rejected USTA offer for her to represent America but chose to represent Japan as an individual player and both Fed and Hoppfman cups? Oh, well.

Sam Stosur and Shuai Zhang are your Women's Doubles Champions, winning in straight sets. Stosur was the crowd favorite being an Aussie.

Meanwhile, Australian viewers are losing their shit. They are pissed at the Channel 9 coverage there not showing the trophy presentation even after an Aussie got to win it.

That was true up until this month. I wouldnt be so sure now. Kvitova is in the best shape of her life. She finally dedicated more time to training. I picked her to win it when I saw her play earlier thsi month.

That being said, Osaka is a very likeable kid and will probably have more people in her corner. This is a win/win final.

I have not been impressed by this tournament. Really been a dud IMO.

No memorable matches and the semi finals outside of the Osaka match was just awful.

Also we need to address how silly this Australian Open schedule is.

You play the women's semi finals one one day but the men are played on 2 different days.

It shouldn't matter this year as both Rafa/Djoker had very straight forward wins but it gives an unfair advantage to the player with 2 days off especially if winner from the 2nd semifinals ends up in a 4 or 5 set match.

She has until she's 22 to decide, but I read that it's questionable whether she will actually have to do so. I read that there actually isn't any law in the books that punishes a person for failing to renounce his/her citizenship in another country.

Also, I read that her father decided early on that she would represent Japan, and that it was because USTA didn't take interest in her at a young age. What I read didn't mention anything about the Japan Nationality Act playing a factor.

I can agree with the above poster. You should have the semis for each tourney (men and women) on the same day.

Whole think is a joke. She's as american as they come. And if she living in Japan, not a great tennis player, and of her racial origins they'd treat her like shit over there.

Yeah, I agree, and I think it's pretty safe to say that she speaks English better than she speaks Japanese.

On this one, I'm not mistaken. Naomi Osaka and Petra Kvitova are about to go at it for the Women's Championship. ESPN commentary consists of Chris Fowler and Chris Evert. Ah, I've adored Chrissie since childhood.
