So he should have waited until after all of the other viable coaching options had been snatched up, before leaving and leaving USC in a worse spot than they would be if KK left now, would be much better?

You are able to understand a joke, right? I mean, I even posted lol.

I get it but good look hiring assistants in the future

Same thing happened with Bama and Sark in 17. He went to the Falcons (though we allowed him to interview; thank you Jesus!).

Bottom line is if you hire good coaches you will lose good coaches. Our staff has turnover every year.

No I didn't. I said it's about integrity and honoring what you signed. I didn't say Kingsbury didn't have any integrity. I don't even know how much of the report is true. That's why in my initial post on this thread I said "assuming this is true". In that post, I said all 3 were dick moves, including USC blocking him from interviewing.

Why did you not include the very next word in that small snippet you quoted from my post?

Kingsbury should stay at USC for a year or two, to improve his status, they explore open P5 schools looking to hire head coaches.

Coaches are now just going to put language in their contracts that if a school rejects the NFL's request to talk to them, then the contract buyout automatically goes to zero.
Its already happening. Granted, you don't see it with coordinators as much but coaches are requesting clauses in their contracts for the ability to leave for other jobs if they open.

The difference is when Bama loses talented assistants, we can just say Saban is still in charge. USC losing talented assistants means their fans can say Helton is still in charge. Methinks therein lies the rub.

How is that a dick move? Seems to me signing a contract and then shopping around for a different job a month later would be the slimy move here...
You are vaguely familiar with college coaches right??

a) Article was pure speculation and written to deceive the reader this is what Kingsbury is thinking. There’s no direct quote from Kingsbury giving any opinion one way or the other. So those of you talking shit about him are no better.

b) Some of you would be terrible business people. Being denied information to better your career and you all act like you wouldn’t be pissed and feel entitled to that info? Buncha fucking hypocrites.
LOLZ Does your SportsHoopla contract include some extra money for being red assed all of the time?

If anything its a dumb move on USC’s part.

You force him to stay... ok, now go sell a recruit that he is going to be playing for KK in his offense for 4 years. Hey if a NFL team wants him and is willing to buy him out then cut him loose asap. Good time of year with the coaching conventions ect. to hire an OC who actually WANTS to be there.
Its just better business practice IMO to let someone go if they want to pursue another job. When you force someone to stay you are not going to get a happy invested employee. He's going to be bitter that he is being held against his will rather than doing the best job

Well yeah, waking up and remembering Clay Helton is our head coach would make me head to Santa Barbara for an extended getaway. Especially if I still drank wine.

Here ya go...

Happy now?

So, you said exactly what I posted that you said. Yes, I’m happy that you’re admitting your hypocrisy now. And for the record, I’d be annoyed if this happened at Bama, but if you start limiting access for elite assistants to get better jobs, you won’t be able to hire elite assistants. It’s a trade off.

Serious dick move...

Report: USC is denying NFL teams permission to interview Kliff Kingsbury

USC is not too keen on the idea of new offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury heading to the NFL.

At last month’s NFL owners meetings in Dallas, league officials informed team executives that they now had to request permission from college athletic directors to interview college coaches. Not doing so would be considered “conduct detrimental” and the NFL then could dock draft picks from teams, sources said.

“If permission is denied, the NFL club should respect that decision just as it would respect a similar decision from another NFL club,” the rule states in part. “NFL clubs that fail to follow these protocols may be subject to disciplinary action for conduct detrimental to the League.”

Report: Kingsbury may resign at USC
With Swann denying him opportunities, Kingsbury may opt to leave USC altogether.

Per multiple sources, Kingsbury’s contract has a very low buyout. But the buyout never came up because the NFL teams, honoring the strong mandate issued at last month’s ownership meeting, contacted Swann and requested permission to interview Kingsbury. Swann said no, and that was the end of it. But that may not be the end of it. Kingsbury, the former Texas Tech head coach, may simply pay the buyout, walk away, and see what happens with any NFL head-coaching or offensive coordinator opportunities.

Kingsbury was hired at USC 10 days after he was fired

This wrinkle leads to a big question: Why did he sign on with USC so soon if the Trojans were going to deny him from interviewing with NFL teams for head coaching jobs?

But, as we know, there’s a difference between being an offensive coordinator for a team that’s looking for a change on one side of the ball and the head coach in charge of an entire team.

Kingsbury went 35-40 in his time at Texas Tech, his alma mater, and the Red Raiders were 5-7 in 2018.

They already invested whatever time it took to interview him, plus the opportunity cost of not interviewing other people who may have already taken other jobs. The NFL teams that have apparently asked to interview him may not make an offer today either, it could be a week or a month down the road that he was given an offer. By then they would be much more invested monetarily and planning for the future wise. And in a industry that gets their players for free, based in some unquantifiable part on public perception of the university; they are "invested" in not being made to look worse if a coach leaves within a month.

But you're right, protecting their investment probably wasn't the exact phrase I was looking for.

That is a serious reach. He can’t even coach players for over a month from now.
