Lets say for argument sake, the following things happen:

Clemson goes 13-0. Notre Dame goes 12-0. Michigan wins out and goes 12-1.

Georgia beats Alabama. Both teams finish 12-1.

Under this scenario, Georgia, Clemson, and Notre Dame would be locks to get in. Do you take a 12-1 CC Michigan or a 12-1 Alabama?

Would you response change, if either (a) Georgia wins by at least 10 points, or (b) the ending was a "fluke" of some sort. Think 2013 Alabama vs. Auburn. Think the first 2011 Michigan State vs. Wisconsin game. Think 2013 Georgia vs. Auburn ending,

Obvious Answer: Oklahoma 12-1
We'll beat whoever shows up and do it with only half a team.

What you are describing is a nightmare scenario that could end CFB as we know it. Other than that I don't know.

I'd default to a PAC 12 or a Big 12 one loss team if there is one.

Notre Dame and Michigan have already had their play-off game.
Alabama and Georgia will have already had their play-off game.

But seriously, if in that scenario the committee chooses Alabama over Michigan, it will prove beyond a shadow of a doubt they are perfectly willing to alienate vast regions of the United States and CFB fandom "because Bama." At the very least this will quickly usher in the 8-team playoff with a cap on number of teams per conference (likely 2) and at worst it would be a tipping point to the rapid decline in the popularity of college football. More likely the later.

Why would Georgia be a lock but Michigan wouldn't ?

I never understand this thinking .

Both teams would have very similar resumes at that point

Anyway what SHOULD happen is Bama should be left out. What I hope would happen is Michigan gets screwed and next year we have an 8 team playoff

The big difference being one of those games was in the first week of the season, the other at the end of the season. You can't reasonably equate the importance of those two games.

Look at the substantial decline in NFL ratings, and that was over a side-show issue. This would be over a fundamental issue. "We all know," lol. So you're in the "cause Bama" camp. Got it.

Bama is better than UGA too even if they lose to them .

Eye test is fine but at some point the criteria the committee claims to use has to count for something

Bama ( if they lose to UGA ) is likely to finish the year with 1 top 25 win. 1. If none of the criteria matters just get rid of the committee and use the polls to pick the playoff teams. They're all eye test

to be fair the NFL is a broken model. Blackouts on games i would maybe watch, the fact the games seem over before they start, and yes the side shows.

I mean seriously i went to watch football on CBS only to find it was some infomercial bs no game was playing let alone a regional one i dont care about

Honestly I don't care if the Midwest is represented but when you list off criteria and Michigan would have A. Better wins B. The better loss C. Better SoS D. A conference title and Bama would have "eye test " ( which isn't even a real criteria then I don't really see how you could justify it. If you took bama in that instance you'd really be saying ALL your stated metrics you claim to use all irrelevant

"Cause Bama" is becoming a self fulfilling prophecy. Knowing they get in no matter what is a tremendous psychological advantage.

Put Washington State in, I don't care about the Midwest either necessarily, just don't use "cuz Bama."

Sure I can. I just did.

I will have already seen the 2018 version of Notre Dame/Michigan and Alabama/Georgia.

Let me see the 2018 Version of Notre Dame/Oklahoma or Notre Dame/Washington St. Let me see the winner of Alabama/Georgia against Oklahoma or Washington St if they remain 1 loss teams.

I don't give a shit about 'eye tests'. That's why they put erasers on pencils.

If Bama had wins over Florida, UGA regular season , LSU, Kentucky and a good ooc then it'd be different but they don't . Their schedule is pretty pedestrian if not slightly below average .

I don't know if the scenario you describe existed prior to the kneeling thing since I don’t follow the NFL for a decade now. I do know this, and that it can happen as easily to CFB as it did to the NFL, and moreso.
