I get your point, and I don't disagree. You may be 100% correct. But teams seem to be willing to swing for the fences too. I look at the Rams, and they HAVE to win it this year, or the whole thing is going to blow up. They can't pay all those guys, they have what, one year left on Goff's rookie deal? Then they have to pay him too? But they pushed all their chips into the middle of the table, and have dared anyone to call them.

I just wonder if KC may want to do a lesser risk 'all in,' by spending a high pick on Thomas. Because Thomas COULD put that team over the top.
On the Rams, they are picking up some injuries. Both starting CBs out after Sunday, with Talib to miss significant time. The football gods may be collecting their taxes.

KC is an interesting option. I don't know Berry's health status, but I don't know why you would want both of them (if Berry can play). Their D is struggling now though for sure, but who are they scared of in the AFC? It's a long season and things can turn, but I think they stand pat until maybe they see who their true competition is. If they think they can run the table (not 16-0 but HFA advantage) to the SB, then why blow a high pick now? I hope they do, but I just have my doubts.

Right now, this week, probably nobody. But it wouldn't surprise me if Pitt/NE both get their crap together. Either of those two can hang with KC offensively, get a turnover or two, and boom, one more flameout for Andy Reid.

In the Superbowl, they could and should be cared of Philly and LA.

Yeah, we've all been watching long enough to know at some point KC will get a test from someone. I hope something happens....ET is a great player but we just don't need this crap anymore, IMO.

I'm glad I don't have to decide. Some players are worth the nonsense. Charles Haley forinstance. Mad as a hatter, but teams put up with his bullshit.

Yeah, each situation needs to be evaluated on its own merit. A couple years ago and this is a different story because we were still contending with a legacy core of super star players. Different team dynamic now, and I think it makes sense to get on with the turnover of both roster and temperament. The sooner, the better. Just my opinion, of course, not that I have any experience with leadership or team building....haha....

:)

If they were doing a full rebuild, I think they'd have cut bait already. But depending on how that D continues to develop, I think they wonder if they could be back in contention as early as next year.

Well, pretty much all the outsiders told us this off-season it was a complete rebuild, so I figured they were right. ;)

If he stays or goes, I definitely think this team can be a contender again next year. Most of the young and inexperienced guys we've been playing this year have nearly all looked pretty dang good (except for maybe Shaquem, who is probably not going to be counted on as a core player before 2020), which I think bodes very well for what our starting lienup looks like in 2019. We may even be heading into this next off-season without a big rebuild project on the OL or coaching staff. It should be easier to be at a better starting point than what we have this season. I hope.

To be clear, I don't think it's a case of Seattle not winning without him, I just see him as a guy who can put you over the finish line. So, for the sake of argument, Flowers continues to progress, giving us a good pair of bookend corners. That plus McDougald is pretty damn nice. But those three PLUS Earl, is, dare I say it, LOB kinda status again. Sign a veteran pass rusher, and we arguably have a D that could win another Lombardi.

But that's totally dependent on Flowers being another P+J success story.

Ok, what'd I miss?

Just two passionate football fans having some fun at each others expense. Nothing more nothing less.

The way I look at resigning Thomas is, at the expense of whom? I honestly value Frank Clark and his position more than I do with Thomas at his position... .I'm by no means saying Clark is as good as Thomas but when I look at the two positions, I would rather invest in Frank Clark for two reasons... He's younger and a very good DE/pass rusher is tough to find...

Yeah, I am with you there. I think it makes way more sense to give a 2nd contract to a DE than a 3rd to a safety. You also cannot have too many pass rushers.

If it's one or the other, then that's a strong point. I'm not convinced it is though. Unless Frank really goes off this year.

I"m ticked right now, because I love Earl, he's been the heart and soul of the back end of this defense for a long time.... But I"m ticked at how Pete Carroll handled this, this is self inflicted, either lock him up and let him retire a Seahawk or make a trade... Now we're stuck with an unhappy Earl flipping Pete off, possibly faking an injury, possible not for sure, but possible, and he's probably not gonna play 100 percent even if he goes back out there... Our hands our tied now... I"m not against the team holding off on a long term deal, but if that was the case they should of just worked out a trade deal LONG before this crap started happening.....

I've been against re-signing Earl - but the lengths people are going to to support Earl is just ridiculous. The team was under no obligation to re-sign him, or even to negotiate with him. It's a business, and it sucks to lose some of your favorite players, but that's what happens.
