Back in 1962, when the group stage was drawn strictly based on geography rather than the format we have today, Brazil drew 0-0 with Czechoslovakia in the group stage and beat them 3-1 in the final. It also happened in 1954 when West Germany and Hungary met in the final after playing in the same group (Hungary won 8-3 in the group, but West Germany won the final 3-2).
