Caps one away. Knights came out great last night, but took a bad penalty and Washington made them pay and never looked back.
Washington looks good but a lot of the bounces went their way. They are pounding Vegas every chance they get which is why i think a team needs size to get through the playoff rigor They have one more to go lets see if the pull a Washington Caps and blow it.

I thought that he was more dependable than Gudas towards the end of the year yet he sat. He hits which you need some of and you are right paired with a passer like Sanheim and I think he could be a solid Dman. The sooner AMac is third pairing the better too.
i agree 100%

I agree. Gudas had a real rough year last year.
I thought Gudas had a half decent regular season it was more the playoffs where his turnovers became more often and more critical.

If we come back next year with the same defense than I will know for sure it will be time to replace Hexy and Haks!

Then I think we do the same thing next year, watch another team hoist the cup.
Hextall has plenty of cap space (about $17 million according to CapFriendly) to invest in an upgrade over Filppula, who has been the de facto third center for a year and a half. Scott Cullen of TSN suggested that Riley Nash, among other moves, would be a fit for the Flyers in his off-season game plan piece. Nash is expected to see a raise on the $900,000 cap hit he played at on a two-year deal with Boston, but is 29 and coming off a 41-point season (15G, 26A) for the Bruinsin a depth forward role. Nash led Bruins forwards in shorthanded time on ice for the NHL’s third-best penalty kill, though he’s up for a raise, he’d make less than the $5 million Filppula made last year and would be a massive upgrade. In that same piece, Cullen mentions Tyler Bozak, Tomas Plekanec, and Derek Ryan as other third line center possibilities with Paul Stastny as more of a pipe dream.

Bringing back Filppula at any cost would be a mistake for the Flyers when there are plenty of in-house and out-of-house options that would be better than settling for another year of Filppula. With the team trending upwards once again, Ron Hextall needs to make improvements around his roster and one of the easiest ones would be to say thanks but no thanks to a Filppula return

Don't get me wrong Gudas may bounce back and AMac is a decent leader. Either way better if the young guys take over.

Yeah he couldn't make a simple outlet pass. Was he hurt?

Nash would be interesting as they need PK help. He's also cheap. Why would Stastny be a pipe dream if they have 17 M? He won't get more than 7 M. Not saying they should but he was good for the Jets.

I agree. Gudas had a real rough year last year.

There were times when you just expected him to either ice the puck, turn it over or chip it into the crowd...all from his own zone...Lol And then, it would happen...over and over. I remember him being solely responsible for at least half a dozen icings per game at his peak. It's just horrific, no matter what the advanced metrics say. You can't have a guy that looks scared of the puck, no matter how physical he is.

I'd say Myers is about to replace one of them and hopefully Sanheim/Hagg also stay on the roster.

I know just blowin steam this A.M. But I would love to see a huge upgrade somewhere.

Myers could end up being a huge upgrade on defense and we have a lot of other youngsters that could improve sgnificantly in year two or three. Other than that, there are just not a lot of "huge" upgrades to be had.

I would love to have Riley Nash. Hes a defensive player who had 41 points last season. I would think he is certainly an upgrade from Fillpula and will most likely be a lot cheaper. I think a lot of teams will be going for Stasny that's one reason they think it will be a pipe dream IMO.
