So give up a 1st rounder for a player that might be gone in a year?

Seattle has the franchise tag. If I were Dallas I wouldn't. But in 2 years the Seahawks shouldn't extend him either.

I was thinking a 2nd and next year's 3rd, but if they're fishing for a 1st and maybe 4th or 5th next year I'd be thrilled.

Love Earl Thomas. I wear his jersey to games, but the next 2 years are about rebuilding this team like they did in 2011 and making another 5 year run.

C'Mon Jerrah, you know you wanna.

Reports are they're seeking a 1st and 3rd with interest and "may get more."

Pull that trigger yesterday!

Now this I could consider.
Earl clearly wants to come home

I don't think you realize truly how good Earl is, and he wants to be a Cowboy, we all know that... He would be a MASSIVE upgrade for you guy's ... And he's only 28 years old .. personally I don't want him to leave, but if you seriously don't think he's worth a 1st, HE IS!!! You're not drafting anyone as good as Earl in the 1st round this year that will make an impact like Earl, dude goes sideline to sideline like the road runner....

Dallas will fuck up their first anyway.

I'd do it.

But first I'd try to trade Dez....

Seattle isn't getting a first round pick from Dallas...Not happening

Then Dallas won't be getting Earl ... Seattle isn't just gonna give the best safety in football away ...

Good for them. He is one of their best players, they should enjoy him instead of actively shopping him and unloading a bunch of their other best players - or just unload him too and commit to a full on rebuild. But for Dallas to give up a 1st and then give him a huge deal would be stupid and I hope like Hell it's not happening. There is always another player. Heck give Honey Badger a smaller deal and use the first round pick you save elsewhere. Or maybe we'll just see him next year at this time??? That way Dallas gets a stud without getting ripped off and you get your 3rd round compensation pick.

I think if nothing happens in the next week that a little bit down the road Sea will just sign him long term themselves.

With that contract and his mileage/injury concerns, I'd say a third is more appropriate.
I'd say a 3rd rounder at best. He's going to expect to get wildly overpaid after 2018 despite the fact that he'll be 30 with a ton of injury issues. I think Dallas would be wise to just stay away.

Don't see them getting a 1st for Thomas. He'll be 29 before the season starts and he's due for a big contract.

Teams just place a lot of value on 1st round picks because they'll come cheap for at least 4 years on the rookie contract and they'll still be in their prime by the time the 2nd contract comes up.

They might be able to snag a 2nd and another pick for him but you mainly see 1st round picks traded these days for QBs

That's what I hope happens, I don't want to lose Earl, he's got another 4 years of good football left... I think Seattle is just getting a feel for any offers, Dallas obviously has interest because Earl showed interest, when he told coach Garrett, " Come get me"
