With the Cowboys opting to stay out of the chase for big-name free agents, they have to draft well and develop players. According to Pro Football Focus, the Cowboys had the third-most "homegrown" snaps played in the league last season with 16,808. The Cincinnati Bengals were No. 1 (18,559) and the Green Bay Packers (17,018) were No. 2.
You have to sprinkle in some quality free agents at some point. Bottom feeding is not getting it done. With the Cowboys opting to stay out of the chase for big-name free agents, they have to draft well and develop players. I found this to be cool interesting facts.
One problem. You have to sprinkle in some quality free agents at some point. Bottom feeding is not getting it done.
Bites us in the ass every year unfortunately. One problem.
Salary cap
but my point being seems like he is doing a good job if we are top three in homegrown starters. You have to sprinkle in some quality free agents at some point. Bottom feeding is not getting it done.
maybe next yearYou have to sprinkle in some quality free agents at some point. Bottom feeding is not getting it done.
Yes next year we should be in a much better position. I just hope we dont have as poor free-agency as last year this year. That was horrible. When was the last time we made a trade?maybe next year
seems to me after signing Martin to a LTD and tagging Lawrence leaves very little $$$ to sign a quality FA.
We gotta hit on 3 to 4 strong contributors in this draft and some major development from our draft selections a year ago.
Every year it seems we have more guys with a higher cap as compared to salary than most other teams. But, I keep reading Stephen is a cap genius...see can, kick can...Bites us in the ass every year unfortunately.
I'd like to see a few years in a row in which we didn't have to redo contracts just to get our 53 man roster.Every year it seems we have more guys with a higher cap as compared to salary than most other teams. But, I keep reading Stephen is a cap genius...see can, kick can...
Me too. Cant wait for that day.I'd like to see a few years in a row in which we didn't have to redo contracts just to get our 53 man roster.

a long time
I'd prefer player for player....Draft picks have too much value with McClay in the house

the three things that will define Jerry's drafts to me are Quincy Carter for the sole reason that he saw athletic QBs around the league doing well, taking chances and the entire 2009 draft strategy. Jerry Jones is NOT a Football guy.Great move. A bad draft by mcclay is still way better than jerruhs best drafts. Not that jerruh ever had a good draft? I don't remember one
That 2009 back-ups draft was one of the dumbest in NFL history hext to the Rickey Williams draft. But afleast NO got one good player.the three things that will define Jerry's drafts to me are Quincy Carter for the sole reason that he saw athletic QBs around the league doing well, taking chances and the entire 2009 draft strategy. Getting closer. Doesn't Romo fall off next years books?Me too. Cant wait for that day.
I am not as adept as you guys on the cap, but I think we rolled something like 9 mil from last year into this years cap. I dont think we had to do much squeezing to get under the cap last year.I'd like to see a few years in a row in which we didn't have to redo contracts just to get our 53 man roster.
