It is frustrating to say the least. Even the announcers said before the game this Flyers team has the cast right now to beat anybody. Maybe Big E suits up for the third period lol.
You see what happens when I bitch about this team? They listen and tie this shit up. lol

Real nice win. Big game from Neuvirth. Awesome to see Patrick get one, and a good one at that. Also so nice to see konecny with shifts late in the game and in OT. Putting him with Provorov and Couturier against top lines is actually really smart. Get them out there against the top unit and let konecny counter them to death.

Nice resiliency with the comeback win and the finish very early on in OT. The defense has to be better though at times and we can't keep allowing these breakaways. Neuvy can probably get most of the credit for the two points and I'm sure it has earned him more playing time. Obviously it's huge to get a goal from Patrick and the shorthanded goal by Simmonds was some serious poetic justice considering that penalty never should've been called.

Kind of interesting to see Couturier, Konecny and Provorov out on the ice to start the OT, but it of course paid dividends quickly. Giroux, Voracek and Ghost were probably coming out next, but it's impossible to say for sure. Our overtime record should definitely be better than it is considering the speed and talent that we have.

It's tough sledding in the playoff race here due to all of the three point games within our division and the fact that we never seem to catch these other teams in the amount of games played.

That said, we are now finally clear of the Canes and Isles via a combination of points and the wins tiebreaker. Hopefully the Pens find a way to lose tonight, but regardless, we would be just three points behind them with three games in hand. Win two of those and we're ahead of them and in a playoff spot. The Jackets and Rangers are right there within striking distance too. This weekend of games vs. division rivals is going to be enormous.

What better way to say we belong in the playoffs than to beat the current top two teams in our division in a back to back? It will be a challenge, but that should be welcomed. We want this opportunity and look forward to it.

Also, the goal by Patrick has been a long while in the making. You could see the kid coming along and beginning to rise to the challenge in just the last few games here. Let's hope this springboards him into a much more productive second half of the season and beyond, because he does seem to have to size, the speed, the hands and all of the tools necessary to be very good at this level.

So does this mean we have to start having a little love for Hakstol?

Yes. Younger guys like Konecny and Patrick are beginning to flourish and we're right in the middle of a heated playoff battle with an edge in games played over virtually every other team.

I don't know that I was every really down on the guy and yes there's been a lot of inconsistency with this team, but not so much as of late.

Check out Sean Couturier's last 10 games:

10 goals (3 of them game winners), 5 assists for 15 points, 25 shots, +3 and a Gordie Howe hat trick included for good measure.

No typo. Those are his real numbers.

This dude looks like Eric Lindros in his prime right now on paper...Lol

I guess what I'm trying to say is. You really think Giroux is carrying him on his back? I don't.

I think Giroux said it best himself when he stated that Couturier belonged in the All-Star game ahead of him and he's right. That said, they are both playing at that level this season.

It's easy to forget that Coots only just turned 25. I give the guy ridiculous props for putting it all together and truly making the most of the chance to center the top line.
