If you include the SB winning year in TB Gruden went 57-55 in 7 years. If you take out that SB win he went 45-50 in 6 years. Hasn't won a playoff game since 2002 and had 6 winning seasons in 11 years. He's like a white Marvin Lewis only with a SB win.

Yep, sounds like a guy who deserves $100 million to me.

@DirtDirtDirt, since you're a NYC guy, you probably witnessed first-hand how the Knicks-Phil Jackson saga went down - you probably know better than I do... Phil was happily retired, but the Knicks came calling with a truck full of money that he would've been a fool to decline. Phil ran that franchise into the ground essentially because he was in it for the money.

Doesn't this seem eerily similar to you?

Its not really a fair comparison only because Phil was brought out of retirement to do something he has never done, and that was to be a GM......Dolan thought the Phils' presence alone would lure the big stars to NY, most notably Lebron............

Gruden being brought back to be a head coach really isnt the same thing

Ran the franchise into the ground?? That franchise was wrecked LONG before Phil arrived

Right, because Gruden did absolutely nothing to make the Raiders a competitive team during his tenure in the late 90's, prior to their advancing to the SB from the AFC side.

I'm not saying Gruden is the end-all be-all of good coaches, but let's stop this facade of him being a terrible coach because it's hip in the world of pop culture to do so

"Because, because Dungy's team, dude! "

100% Correct. Everyone gives Dungy all of the credit because Dungy is so likable and people thought he got a raw deal. Maybe he did, but he could never beat Philly. Gruden did. And then he took the team that he built and destroyed them in the next game.

Going into the clubhouse turn it's Facepalms leading Winner 2-1.

Not that I give a monkey's....

Clearly you give a "monkey's..... " or you wouldn't have felt the need to post up stats on your previous quote

Won it in the best Switzeresque fashion too, taking over a lead pipe cinch....

And got to play the team he had previously built against his former OC who didn't bother to change the playbook or the terminology :L

LOL at Bill Callahan.

Only on SportHoopla can you hear that Jon Gruden was handed a lead pipe cinch when Brad Johnson is the QB
