The difference here is the Utah fan doesn't have to have a care in the world about rankings going into next season. The top tier teams do. And bowl finishes will for sure add into that. Want to reach the top 4? You have to have a strong SoS and with the conf schedule comprising 3/4 of your slate how they are perceived is literally everything.

Utah fan has zero clue about that. None. At all.

I'm not really that worried about it myself. Just go win your games next year and it will all shake out, but I get why USC, Stanford, UW, and 2-3 other fan bases care about how other Pac teams finish this year.

This. It's not conference nut swinging, it's realizing perception matters. You don't have to swing on nuts to want your conference to have a decent showing on the national stage against other conference teams.

I'll always activity root against Oregon, and I won't lose any sleep over other PAC teams looking like ass, but Jesus Christ, it wouldn't be the worst thing if a WSU or Stanford could show up against similarly ranked Big 10/12 teams.

I say the cougars have embarrassed the PAC 12 for the last time, in fact. We should look into seeing if the Mountain West or Big Sky would like to trade for them.

Just trust us, this talk of conf nutswinging isn't really a thing for pretty much any Pac fan I'm familiar with up here. I kind of wanted WSU to win, sort of maybe? But laughed when they got blown out and had their 'star' qb puss out with some phantom injury from a month + ago. And I was at best indifferent to the Stanford game. At least they covered the spread which shouldn't hurt their 'stock' much going into next season. I really don't care either way about USC other than I'd like to watch a good game. I don't care much for either team so I don't have much of a dog in that hunt as it were. And as always I'm 100% against the ducks winning anything no matter what it does to the conference. Every chance to watch those assholes lose is a good day.

While WSU played like shit all game, Stanford found a way to coug it. For fucks sake!

Not an excuse but they lost two defensive starters in the first half to injury, including Reid and lost love at the start of the 4th (dude was bleeding massively from his thumb).

I guess there is always next year? No fuck it, Stanford will win 9-10 games again and not play in a meaningful bowl.

Utah would have gotten curb stomped by every team the rest of the Pac faced and you know it. Your D wasn't as solid as it has been in recent years and that offence was hot garbage. I mean when is that team going to find a half way decent QB?

Congrats on beating a purely terrible WV team, but no one takes that win seriously. It's cute you want to somehow gloat against teams in better bowls, but no one is buying it.

West Virginia wasn't good but Utah was missing half their starting defense also. Utah would beat Purdue and Kansas State. It would be a tossup for Boise and N.C. State, I'm not thoroughly convinced that TCU is all that great either.

And aren't the teams in the better bowls supposed to be better also? And that less than halfway decent QB threw for 300 yards and 2 TD's against the Huskies and had a 178.6 passer rating to Browning's 178.1 in that game.
