This. It's not conference nut swinging, it's realizing perception matters. You don't have to swing on nuts to want your conference to have a decent showing on the national stage against other conference teams. The difference here is the Utah fan doesn't have to have a care in the world about rankings going into next season. The top tier teams do. And bowl finishes will for sure add into that. Want to reach the top 4? You have to have a strong SoS and with the conf schedule comprising 3/4 of your slate how they are perceived is literally everything.
Utah fan has zero clue about that. None. At all.
I'm not really that worried about it myself. Just go win your games next year and it will all shake out, but I get why USC, Stanford, UW, and 2-3 other fan bases care about how other Pac teams finish this year.
I'll always activity root against Oregon, and I won't lose any sleep over other PAC teams looking like ass, but Jesus Christ, it wouldn't be the worst thing if a WSU or Stanford could show up against similarly ranked Big 10/12 teams.
I say the cougars have embarrassed the PAC 12 for the last time, in fact. We should look into seeing if the Mountain West or Big Sky would like to trade for them.
