Any recruit has a chance to start except for receivers, IMHO. All other positions are wide open.

I am hoping for a 5-7 season. If better super. If worse, I can live with the pain. I would hate a 0 win, 1 win, 2 win, or 3 win season, but I can understand how it happens. The 2018 schedule is not kind to the 2017 Nebraska team we saw. At this point in time, I think Nebraska can beat Akron and Illinois and that is it.

The 2017 Nebraska Football team was horribly, horribly coached. Frost and his staff have a lot of work to do.

Once again, the defense learns a new system. Not encouraging. The 2015 defense sucked with change. the 2017 defense was worse than a Kevin Cosgrove defense. Defensive changes are bad at Nebraska.

The worst part, the oline is the most experienced group. YIKES!!

Can Gates, Foster, Farmer improve as seniors? I think Decker is better than Cole Conrad. No way Matt Farniok can be as bad as he looked.

Or will the new oline coach go all in the sophomores and freshmen? Jameis, Wilson, Raridon, Brokop, Farniok, Farniok, Decker as center.

Me, I would go with the sophomores and freshmen and see what they do.

Quarterback. I don't care, if Tanner Lee is still here, he can sit. Bring him in on obvious passing downs as a decoy and hike it to the back. Tanner Lee is not my starter, Tanner Lee is my 4th string QB. If he is really pro material he can hold the clipboard to get into practice on doing that.

Running Back, I like Tre Bryant but Greg Bell has me excited. I can go either way. Bryant has been injured.

Fullback, all in on Ben Miles. But, I could see him transferring. Not sure if Frost is a fullback guy anymore, even though he QB'd Nebraska during that era.

Receivers are Stanley Morgan and the quick smurfs. Lindsey and Spielman. Not sure how Mcquitty and Woodyard fit in.

D Line, is OK at best. Hopefully they are allowed to pressure the QB or something. I like the Davis twins. Stoltenberg did as good of a job as he could. The linebackers just flat out sucked.

Linebackers oh boy Gifford is the best one. Dedrick Young, has done absolutely nothing. Not even sure why he is/was a starter. Gotta hope the others step up.

Last year, the D backfield was solid. Then completely fell apart with injuries and no one stepped up.

Cornerbacks, going to be super exciting. None of the ones we have are capable of shutting anyone down. Could be lots of scoring explosions.

Safeties, I don't even know of one other than Jojo Domann who was hurt before the season started.

OK, Koolaid drinkers. In February 2017, I was berated by some of you for posting Nebraska could go 4-8.

2018 I see 2-10 happening and I am hoping for a 5-7.

Post your counter arguments.

Troy is losing a ton of starters including their QB and RB....and a key LT.

I think we can take them in Lincoln. Colorado loses 8 Offensive starters but will be stacked on Defense. That game could be interesting.

The good thing is Colorado was awful on D this year.

They just return a lot of starters.

Here’s how I see it.....any games that I consider a tossup I’m going to give Frost the benefit of the doubt, because he is just a better coach than most of these clowns.

Akron - Win

Colorado - tossup (I’ll say Win. The crowd is going to be jacked for this game just because of who the opponent is. Also 2 weeks in and the excitement is still going to be pretty strong with Frost being our head coach. A good percentage of the fans sitting in those seats aren’t smart enough to understand that we’re not going undefeated this year.)

Troy - Win (Still at home. Crowd is still jacked. Troy loses way too many guys from this season.)

@ Michigan - Loss (Not sure I see us getting blown out in this one. I just see us having trouble Offensively as the pieces aren’t all there yet.)

Purdue - tossup (In Lincoln, and we have a better coach. I’ll say Win, though this one looks real similar to the Colorado game to me. Not an easy win, but we do have better athletes and a way better coach.)

@ Wisconsin - Loss (I think we’ll struggle to score much at all in this game. I see something like a 27-10 Loss here.)

@ Northwestern - Loss (I almost have this one as a tossup. Reason for that being the fact that NW will finally be without Justin Jackson. I just think we’ll be pretty beat up coming off of a road game at Wisconsin and we’ll come up short.)

Minnesota - Win (It’s in Lincoln and we have way more gooder athletes. We shouldn’t have gotten our dicks beat in this year by this team.)

@ Ohio State - Loss (Yikes)

Illinois - Win

Michigan State - Loss (close to a tossup just because it’s late in the season and this is about the time this team will start to gel under a new head coach. Michigan State is going to be loaded though. They should be really good.)

@ Iowa - tossup (Might seem surprising but I’ll say Win. The strength of this team this year was their LB group and they’re all graduating. They also lose Wadley at RB. I don’t think Iowa is gonna be very good.)

So I guess I’ve got us at 7-5.

I don't care what the record is. As long as they resemble a football team that is improving every week.

They'd be calling for Harbawl's head if Nebraska were to go in there and beat them with a first year head coach.
Beating Ohio St would be the only thing that could save his ass.

i'm optimistic.

we have athletes on defense and it really sounds like Diaco bypassed all teaching/fundamentals to just install his defense. i think Frost and co will get back on the right track and it will be surprisingly better than we expect. They'll be running the 3-4 more like Wiscy's and i think that will have guys a lot more excited and flying around.

Offensively, i think pieces are there. a lot of returning talent on offense and also bringing in some Juco speed. if we can find a QB that's reasonable, i honestly think it could be better than we think. new O-line coach instills some nastiness into those guys and we could have something there. lots of highly rated guys that need a good kick in the pants from a new coach.

I pretty much agree with JJMs list. However unlike him, i would straight up call NW and MSU tossups. I think we could get to 8-4, but would take 5-7 without blow out losses to anyone. I couldn't imagine much worse than that with the talent we have and the turn around Frost did at UCF.

I'll make my prediction after I see how well UCF competes against Auburn.
