Bob Stoops was a DC when Oklahoma hired him. Over the course of his 18 years as HC, the Sooners had a 0.802 winning percentage, 9 conference titles, 9 bowl victories, and an NC.

Tennessee needed to hire the next Bob Stoops. Could that be Pruitt? Time will tell, but the last dyed-in-the-wool Bammer hired by UT didn't fare so well. Bill Battle inherited Doug Dickey's roster and the Vols went 11-1, 10-2, 10-2 while some of them were on the team. Battle's recruits didn't do so well, as the Vols record slid from 8-4 to 6-5. Bill never beat Bama, something he was hired to do. UT ditched him for the return of favored son, Johnny Majors.

Battle was only 28 when UT hired him. Pruitt is 43. Pruitt's experience and stellar reputation as a recruiter gives him a leg up. If he surrounds himself with capable staff who mesh with his personal style and can continue to do so when faced with the inevitable staff attrition, maybe he can build sustained excellence at Tennessee. There are examples of coaches born from a rival's traditions doing well as HC of the other school's team - Vince Dooley was an Auburn man who coached UGA for more than 2 decades. Pat Dye was a Georgia man who coached Auburn for more than a dozen years. For the Big Orange faithful, the question will linger - can a Bammer truly convert to Big Orange and lead the Vols heart & soul to sustained success?

Bill politely decided to leave. He knew what he had. He was the first person to take "Official NCAA" licensing seriously.

I told y'all them old turds are seriously concerned with him being from Alabama.

The scenario that pussies like @Tin Man are concerned with. Jeremy fucking Pruitt is so good that when Saban retires.....

Dabo doesn't leave Clemson. So Pruitt has done so well over the past 5 years he goes back.

This is what a rational Tennessee fan deals with.

People like @Tin Man scared about the future and the nuts in east Tennessee who are simply just nuts.

Tin Man is a known dumbass around and nobody takes him serious. He tries way to hard to be interesting and just comes off as weird and creepy.

I didn't even read his post beyond the first paragraph.

You are a pitiable miserable sh!t. You're opinion is a mishmash of envy, fear, and externalized self-loathing. Only the similarly afflicted extend to you any modicum of regard. Most consider you unworthy of the effort of despite and pay you as much heed as a stray dog beside the road on which they're traveling. Being the object of your scorn less irritating than a swarm of gnats in Americas, GA.

So let's get back to the whole how will Pruitt do at TN. Assuming the defenses he will produce may be decent - any word on what type of offense they will run?

I might have made that reply to another Bammer, but articulating in compound sentences rife with polysyllabic words is like salt in the wound to whatsizfvck.

No it's not.

It just makes you look like you are trying to hard and you generally come off as the creepy uncle everyone suspects is touching little kids so never let's theirs visit.

Helton's prior work indicates he'll utilize a balanced attack from a spread formation, go under center for power short yardage situations, and, if his QB shows good vision & judgement, employ "NASCAR" play packages for sporadic up-tempo bursts (have a set # of plays that the QB may execute in whatever order suits the D they're facing).

Perfect example of projecting your self-loathing onto others. You've made my case.
