That's fair. I've laid out my reason for why Yankees fans shouldn't have a thing to complain about with the Stanton deal. I'm hearing mixed reports from up here. Morning show here is saying that New York is not happy, afternoon show is saying that they are ecstatic. From actual baseball fans, not the OMG HOME RUNS YAY! crowd, what's the feeling in Yankee town?

Oh overwhelming satisfaction with the deal. Don't forget Mets fans have a voice here, so they are obviously miserable about it.

From a Yankee fan standpoint, the large majority is thrilled

My question has been where he plays. Do they attempt to keep him happy and put him in LF and DH the much better fielder in Gardner? Is it a juggling act every day? Different DH? Judge getting days at DH

Small problems

I'm really hoping the Red Sox sign JD Martinez, and then the talking heads up here are going to explode with fury. They absolutely hate the idea. It's absurd. Their counter is "who even really knows how JD Martinez is?!"

They've actually gotten to the point where the entire afternoon show is now rooting for the Yankees. They've all admitted it and I'm not kidding.

Yeah that's a tough task for Boone in his first year. And by tough, I mean it's a sweet problem to have.

I've said for months JD in Fenway would be the AL MVP

It has to be the biggest no brained out there

I did find it a bit curious the Sox seemed to never even kick the tires on Stanton. That part has some of my Sox fan buddies furious

Yeah according to his agent they never kicked the tires. And then Dombrowski said he spoke to the Marlins GM and they weren't on Stanton's list and the price tag wasn't what they were looking for. So who knows. Getting whiny about it won't do anything. People calling for Dombrowski's head are just minions following the talking heads. Here's their argument in a nutshell:

Stanton pros: HE HITS BOMBS, I want the big bat!, he hits it 500 feet!, he's a monster!

Martinez cons: oh please, don't give me that, he doesn't create buzz

That's it, for the last 2 months.

Yup I could see that, Stanton is a cartoon character, JD is the boring move

As players? I don't think the gap is that wide, that's just me maybe. His numbers in Arizona were ridiculous

I guess Arizona doesn't have the money? Seems letting him go puts them back in the Goldschmidt and not much else predicament

But if you want to know the extent of Mike Felger's baseball knowledge, here it is. When asked whether or not Vizquel, Thome, or Chipper are HOFers, he said he was a "yes" on Vizquel and a "no" on Chipper/Thome.

Yeah and I get it, it's a business and they want the Red Sox to win the offseason so more people will tune in, but don't pretend like it's anything more than your ratings that you're concerned about. Tony Mazz has followed baseball a long time, so for him to pretend that JD Martinez isn't a damn good hitter is asinine. Even if you want to just scream "I WANT THE HOME RUN HITTER", Martinez is 8th in baseball over the last 3 years in HRs and had a higher HR rate than Stanton last year. And if you are concerned about Martinez injury history than how can you not be concerned about Stanton?

I don't know what situation the Diamondbacks want to be in financially, but they do have Goldschmidt's contract coming up. He has just 2 years left. I have to think locking him up is priority. But the other guys who produced for them last year aren't getting paid for a while. Robbie Ray locked up for 3 more years, Godley for 5, Bradley for 4, Walker for 3, etc. So they have a window here and they were obviously competitive before getting Martinez.

They were ridiculous, but I don't see Martinez sustaining that kind of production... or at least that home run pace. I'd gladly take 2014-16 J.D. Martinez though.

can't wait to hear people say "the Yankees are too reliant on home runs", as if them hitting 800 home runs is a bad thing.

Headley and Bryan Mitchell could be heading to San Diego.

Marlins probably got the best possible return they could for Giancarlo at this point, but I think they completely fucked themselves over by being so insistent that Giancarlo would be traded. I think that put them at a disadvantage in negotiations.

Totally.......If they "acted" resistant to trading him, and had teams chase them, they absolutely would have done better, you would have to think?
