Just under 8,200 yards more, but Gonzalez has played in 171 more games so it would stand to reason that he has accumulated more of every stat. He was a fantastic TE, but the next time you see him pancake an O-lineman will be the first time. Our big galoot does it on a regular basis.

Some of the stats stand out when you look at the two careers.

Gonzalez 11.3 yds per catch and 56 yds per game. 270 games played, 111 career TDs

Gronk 15.1 yds per catch and 70.1 yds per game. 99 games played, 75 TDs

Tony is right.
Chiefs were a run first team. Priest Holmes and Larry Johnson ate most of those touchdowns.

Not saying Gronk isn't a great TE, but Gonzalez had the pleasure of catching the ball from the likes of Grbac, Green, Huard, Croyle, Thigpen and Matty Ice (his last 5 years)......

green was underrated, as was grbac. teams tried pulling elvis out of retirement for 5 years.

No doubt when Gronk plays, he is one of the best any of us have ever seen

Much like when Bo Jackson played, he was one of the best we have ever seen

But at some point we cant just "project" numbers and claim Player A was better than Player B, when Player B will absolutely demolish Player A in every statistic we have ever considered important in the NFL

I have doubts that Gronkowski will play another 100 games, let alone another 170. His wrecking ball style has led to some injuries and his back has been fubar since he was in college. Add the fact that there are too many dewshbag DB's and safeties that are constantly trying to wipe out his knees and I will be shocked if he gets to 200 games played.

That being said, I'm not into projecting what might be. I'm only looking at his impact in the games he does play in and the numbers (as well as the eye test) tell me that he is better than anyone who is playing now or has come before him. Someone posted earlier that they thought that Kelce is a better blocker, that's just foolish.

Someone mentioned Antonio Gates and Jason Witten earlier and they are both HOF tight ends for sure, but their numbers and impact match up closely with Gonzalez. Gates has higher yds per catch and game numbers than the other two, but still comes up short when compared to Gronk. Hell Gronkowski has more TDs in 99 games than Witten has in 235.

Given the amount of wear on the tires right now I'd pick Kelce.

But if I could go to the dealership and chose between a brand new Kelce or a brand new Gronk? I'd get me a brand new Gronkowski with that new Gronk smell. <breaths in deeply> Ahhhhh, smells great.

when he is playing, Gronk is the best.

If I were a G.M., I would rather have Kelce though because Gronk is always hurt.

I know. I'm not saying he is the best, but is worth a mention. Pretty quiet here regarding JG. I think he leads the league in TD's for TE's but what is impressive is his results in coming back and excelling after the injury he had.

The worst part about Graham is how good Unger is in the Big Easy.
