You might want to check out that source.

Now...it maybe for real...but it kinda smells.

The guy that wrote that article also wrote that he has confirmed that John Morgan is going
to run for Governor as an Independent. Now, considering that every other major newspaper
in the state wrote yesterday that Morgan will not run and that Morgan himself announced
on TV, this morning, that he would not run I find the entire paper to be a bit shaddy.

I think it's all fake...I mean, have you ever heard of USA Herald before?

But it did make you look, and that's half the fun.

I did more than look.

Hell, I searched it and found nothing else on it. Then, I noticed the story about Morgan.
I said to myself..."I just heard him say he wasn't running." Then I saw who wrote the story,
and I went back to the Fisher story and he wrote that also.

Now maybe they are doing double duty, but I didn't think so.

Who knows, maybe tomorrow Finebaum will have Mary from Selma on...yelling about the
Auburn game and Paul will console her and then the next caller will be from Tui calling
from Seoul wanting to know what America is gonna do about that fatass running North Korea.
Paul will use his best Korean and satisfy her by saying "America is gonna shot that tub of lard
and we're gonna shoot his barber...twice."

Story is probably the right way to describe what he wrote...every other article he writes is bullshit, the rest look like copy paste AP stories.

There are a lot of fake news and fake twitter accounts saying both things. Not sure if the Russians are behind it or not but it’s amazing how easily people believe them.

I imagine that outside of the ADs, Agents, and a few others; the only person that knows for sure is Jimbo. I do t expect him to say shit until maybe Sunday

I still don't think this is the right hire if it's made.......outside of recruiting. But I guess aggy is willing to try anything at this point. It wouldn't be a bad hire......but for the money they will have to spend......I think there's better out there.

What ever happened to actually conducting a coaching search......everybody just goes after the hot name.

They don’t do coaching searches anymore. If they do it’s hish-hush behind the scenes long before the current coach gets fired. Coaches, like pro ball players, have agents pulling the deals for them.

We hired this AD specifically to bring in a big name. Woodward’s last two AD jobs were Washington where he hired Peterson and LSU where he hired Saban and Les Miles. This program has supposedly grown past the need to hire some who “gets” A&M which is why I doubt that Morris is anything but a final option if he’s an option at all.

Morris shouldn't even be a serious consideration.

I would have interviewed Mullen, Frost, Norvel, maybe made a pitch to Patterson......at least TALK to a variety of coaches.

When you just DECIDE a guy is who you want with nothing else to compare to, that's usually when you run into trouble - that means one guy is making the decision, so if that coach fails, they all go down

Budget.

He is under a tight budget in regards to assistants and can't pay the really good ones SEC money and so he loses people because of it. aTm will give him the budget and the facilities to compete with anyone in any area.

Auburn, LSU and Georgia have raided FSU for Jimbos top assistants in recent years and he has rarely won the money battle.

Remember when the Big12 tried to get FSU to join along with Clemson and make lots more money than you hey donin the ACC?

Ha, screw em, enjoy your new shi**y cheap coach FSU...

Damn...I have to agree with a t-sip.:gaah:

I really don't think Jimbo is significantly better than Sumlin. Both had a couple really good seasons with a Heisman QB and then let downs. His conference losses the last 3 years 2, 3, & 5 this year. I know the QB was injured but that doesn't explain getting boat raced by Boston College. Is he an upgrade over Sumlin? Probably. Is he going to make A&M a conference and NC contender? I don't know. Additionally, I really do not like the way he handled the Jamis Winston off field stuff and how he forced Bowden out.

I would have preferred they went after Pat Fitzgerald from NW. I know he likes it there and that it's a long shot, but give it a shot. If not Fitz, do some scouting, research, & interviews to find the next Saban, Meyers, or Dabo.

Ok did we get that one off our chest? Anything else we need to vent about?

There was a lot more involved than money in a potential move to the Big 12 and the big issue was stability. Now I have zero doubts the football guys were very interested but if I remember correctly they got concessions to keep them happy.

Not sure if it’s the right hire or not. Personally, I’m not a fan. I hope they talked to a few others. I’ll get behind whoever they hire though. I mean, I supported Fran up until close to the end...

This is kinda of funny because Texas did exactly what you are saying shouldn’t be done and went after the hot name. At least the Aggies are getting a proven head coach with a National Championship under his belt. Jimbo is about as safe of a gamble as there is and I don’t see how they could do better.

I'm not interested in Jimbo at all, don't want a fat cat who is going to cash checks and nothing else. I want someone young and hungry, like Morriss. Morriss knows the Texas HS football programs like the back of his hand. He would be great recruiting to play against the SEC teams. Even larger though, I wanted Sumlin to have another year. One where isn't dealing with a load of freshmen and his starting QB hurt in game 1.

Honestly, Jimbo reminds me a TON of Mark Richt... A guy that can recruit, will get your program to 10 wins fairly consistently, but is not a guy you want coaching to win the big game or to win a championship.

Now I realize that sounds funny when talking about a guy that HAS won some big games and HAS won a national championship, but my feeling has been that we won on talent alone, which honestly doesn't happen often anymore in college football. Gotta be able to coach em too...

I look at this season, for instance, and wonder how in the HELL the loss of one player takes us from #3 in the country, to a .500 team. You'd think Francois was Peyton Manning!

I guess I'm confused why in the world Jimbo would want to make this move. Going to a worse program and in a tougher division.

I guess Aggie could moneywhip him, but I don't see the allure for taking a step down in prestige.

I'm with you on everything but Morris. He has done good things at SMU, but not enough for me to think he can make the jump to the SEC and hold his own with Saban, Malzhan, etc. A&M went and got a hot coach at a smaller Texas college 6 years ago and it didn't pan out.

I think getting Jimbo is just lazy and the mindset that A&M can go buy a HC that will make them a contender. It may be the "safest" hire but I don't think it is the best.

I say take a run at Fitzgerald from NW or Justin Fuente from VaTech.

So far the only people saying it’s Jimbo are “sources close to the program” our AD and Jombo are both tight lipped about it. I’m betting that we’ve been talking to several coaches over the last year. I wouldn’t be surprised if Peterson was on the list. I am surprised I haven’t heard more names. But from what I understand, ever since Woodward took over he’s been aggressively working on a coaching change
