Should have been Dion-Hamilton on this list before his season ending injury.

I think it should be Smith, but honestly I haven't seen a lot of Edwards, Edmunds, and Bush.

Outside being on teams with better records, I don't see how Jewell didn't make it and Bush and Edwards did, especially Edwards.

Jewell's stats are much better and Iowa faced #1, #2, #3, #4, #5, #8, #10, #11 and #14 scoring teams in B1G.

Wisconsin did not face #1, #2, They are #3,

Better team, better defense. Isn’t it harder to get stats when you’re not the only one making plays?

By the same state of mind it should be easier for teams to game plan for him, thus, limiting his stats

It’s hard to game plan to avoid a linebacker. It’s not like trying to avoid a corner, or shut down an elite receiver.

I don't know that he would qualify for the Butkus Award facing those offenses. However he would be
the leader in the Clubhouse for the "Tallest Midget of the Year" award.

But shouldn't a LB making all these plays with amazing stats vs good offenses be more impressive than a LB who is surrounded by great players and his stats are not as impressive vs weaker offenses?

It was probably hard for them to decide to chose just one Badger. Connley leads the team in tackles, Dooley leads the. BIG in sacks, Jacobs looks like Megatron out there and Edwards is just good at everything but not the fastest. I'm fine with Edwards since he has a pick six four ints a few sacks and sixty tackles. He won't win unless he has a monster game this week but it's nice to see him nominated.

Iowa has more than 2 on defense that has played good, but only 2 should be a finalist for awards. One is a finalist for Jim Thorpe.

Jewell has 113 total tackles - (10 games)
Edwards has 60 total tackles - (11 games)

Jewell has 59 solo tackles
Edwards has 39 solo tackles

Jewel has 4 sacks
Edwards has 2 sacks

Jewel has 7 games with 10+ total tackles
Edwards has 1 game with 10+ total tackles

Even Iowa's #2 LB has more total tackles, solo tackles, and more 10+ tackle games than Edwards.

Stats are more evenly distributed on a team loaded with great players.

Those statistics don't tell the entire story. Again because the Badgers are a better all around defense they aren't allowing as many first downs. Which is why Iowa has allowed offenses to take 121 more snaps against them. That's 121 more tackles, 121 more opportunities for tackles for loss, 121 more opportunities for sacks, etc. It's easier to stat pad with an inferior defense. This is why players from the best defenses are normally given the nod even with inferior all around stats.

Edwards hasn't been the best in the game statistically but he makes game changing plays, does everything very well, is all over the field and is the leader on what is arguably the best defense in the country.

You will know soon enough. I can't guarantee our LB's won't knock another QB out of the game but JT Barrett is a little bitch so....
LOL you're on a roll. How are you gonna explain this one? Is it because he's better than any Wisconsin QB ever and you're jealous you don't have him this year?
