His dad said they were all three going to be one and done.

Well, Lonzo was one and done. Now LiAngelo is probably one and done. So, he's been spot on so far. lol

His dad reacted completely wrong to the public. he should have said that it is a big deal. Now he is challenging the Chinese govt on who saves face. I think the Dad is an idiot and very trump like
The worst part is the kid will suffer the most because of his dad's poor parenting skills, but perhaps the best lesson he will learned is that the rest of the world doesn't care who Lavar Dad is or isn't and is going to hold him accountable for his actions as it should be. Now I do think he deserves another chance, but I think he needs to spend some time in jail and get kicked off the UCLA team for this year, so that 20 years from now he will be teaching his kids the valuable lessons in life that made him grow up. That's the only thing really important here because I have to tell you - Once a thief - Always a thief - unless it's caught the first time and the right people nip it in the bud. I would let a man live on the street in cold weather before I'd permit him to live with me - if he is a thief

I think if they do the right thing, LiAngelo should get off the UCLA squad, but some one else like another college or the G league will give him a shot as it should be. The kid has to pay for his sins just as the rest of us had to at the age, but he should get another chance

Yeah and it’s not even the kid he’s pulling from college it was the one in it. You’re reaching for a correlation that doesn’t exist. So it’s a bad idea to pull his one son from high school because another one of his kids got arrested for shop lifting. Thats your argument here.

You can raise two kids the exact same way with different results. There’s no perfect formula which as a fellow parent I’m sure you realize too.

Also by all regards Lonzo is highly regarded as a person. So how does that fit your narrative?

@LAD Apologies if the tone of my post was harsh. I see your point of view and feel it's just as valid as mine. Just was a rough night for me and the first thing I see when I log is being called out for something I didn't say kind of pissed me off.

In my original post I acknowledged that this wasn't happening with the kid he pulled from high school. I also already explained to you that this IS AN EXAMPLE of kids lacking social skills. It seems you're missing this point (for whatever reason, because I've always thought you were as sharp as a tack).

You are correct when you say as a parent of more than one kid that I know no two kids are exactly the same - even when raised in the same household. In fact, that is also kind of the point too. We don't know what choices they will make when on their own - but we certainly want to make sure they have all the tools necessary to make the CORRECT choice in those situations.

So his college aged son was the one who acted a fool, but aren't they both from the same world of privilege? IMO this was a clear cut sign of a kid feeling like the rules don't apply to him. As he will find out soon, his actions will have severe consequences. We're not talking about a kid who was stealing food because he's hungry & without means to pay for it. We're talking about a kid that drives a Lamborghini to school & plays basketball for a prominent college. You can't make that correlation?

No worries, we're good. I only called you out because I thought this was a good example of the point I was trying to make at the time - but not to say one opinion was right or wrong.

I think it's a bad idea to pull him out of High School because of social issues.

Look what Liangelo got up to the first time he got from under his dad's thumb a little.

He did the dumbest thing in the dumbest place possible.

Example....

I would much rather have my kid learn how to deal with the peer pressure of being offered a cigarette in high school than to have her out on a island alone in college where she can be offered coke, crack, meth.

When does he get to be a kid? Where is his social interaction?

You are taking something he loves and turning it into a 24/7 job when he is 16.

So, I totally get her point.

But, you are right too.

My older brother and I grew up in a two parent household.

One of us ended up in Prison * him *.

The other one ended up with the keys to the jail cell * me *.

All we can do is teach them right from wrong and hope for the best.

You can lead a horse to water...My brother decided he'd rather have whiskey instead.
Well said my friend!

The funny thing about this is that:
The store selling Louie Vuitton was probably selling knockoffs.
Which makes this entire situation even worse IMO. So, you risked you & your family's reputation for junk? And are going to pay steep repercussions for that?

Agreed. Ignorance in others has that effect on me. I don't suffer fools well at all.

2nd post in the thread.

:L

That's even worse. Thread was started on Tuesday. I can't be expected to remember what I read on Tuesday.

That's my excuse and I'm sticking with it.

We had a joke in the Marine Corps.
When a sub leaves port, 180 men go out, when it comes back 90 couples come out.
Ha ha! Something goofy about a man joining an organization where you hot cot it with another dude for 6 months at a time. That's the Navy though.

I think folks might be reading a bit too much into this LiAngelo situation. He's a dumbass kid who did a dumbass thing. Doesn't make him a bad kid, doesn't mean his parents did a bad job raising him.

Kids do stupid stuff all of the time. The problem for him is that he is a high profile kid with a high profile family and a loudmouth of a father who keeps drawing as much attention as possible.

For all any of us know, he may have acted out of a feeling that the rules don't apply, but I think it's more likely that it was a spur of the moment stupid decision. There were 2 other players involved as well, who are far more important to UCLA's chances than LiAngelo, but everyone is focused on him.

Spinning what? Dude, I gave you your very own thread to embarrass yourself in. Why are you doing it in this one too?
