Dodger fans should be more upset with Roberts than Darvish.
Bullshit. Roberts can't pitch for Darvish. He has to expect that a highly paid professional athlete can at least give him a professional effort and not choke like he did in both starts.

Bullshit your bullshit.

Roberts can't pitch for Darvish, but he could have -- no, SHOULD HAVE -- had the sense to have him on a SHORT leash after he'd shat the bed so badly in Game 3. Darvish looked shaky in the first, and gave up two runs. Buster Olney reported that Darvish was bouncing pitches during warmup and clearly wasn't on.

I can understand them starting Darvish, but to put him back out there for the second without someone warmed up to jump in the second he walked McCann is just fucking stupid.

It's Game 7, Roberts, you dipshit.

The more I think about it, the more pissed I get at Dave Roberts and his stupid fucking decision to stay with Darvish in the 2nd. All I wanted was an exciting Game 7, and that shitbird single-handedly deprived me of it.

I'm going to write an angry letter.
I'm surprised you haven't jumped on the theory of why Kershaw didn't start Game 7. Clearly he was good to go for at least 43 pitches. So why not start him?

Could it be that Roberts sensed Kershaw couldn't handle the pressure of starting a Game 7 so he put him in when they were already down 5-0 since there isn't as much pressure there?

Meh. I don't mind them going with Darvish. I mind them staying with Darvish.

I'm also not looking to bash Kershaw. I'm actually a fan of his -- I drafted him in my keeper league in the spring of '07 and have had him since. I've never said that he is a postseason choke artist. He's pitched some brilliant games in the postseason. Basically, all I've said is that until I see some sustained playoff success from him, I wouldn't count on him to be "Kershaw" in a playoff start.

If Roberts didn't hold onto faith in his guys, the bullpen wouldn't have come up huge in Game 6 and Bellinger wouldn't have played like an MVP in Games 4 and 5. It's just the way he's managed all season long. It worked out great when the Dodgers steamrolled the NL. Didn't work out in the WS.

That being said, I was calling for Darvish to get hooked after he allowed 2 base runners on in the 2nd. I certainly didn't want him facing Springer in that situation and Morrow was already warm and prepared to come in. He was lights out all postseason so it's hard to believe Morrow wouldn't have been able to get out of that inning.

Going down 5-0 in Game 7 changes the mindset of a young offense, they couldn't "play loose" like the Astros did in Game 5, much harder to do that in a winner-take-all situation. There's a lot of blame to go around, but that takes nothing away from the Astros. They earned the title this year.

Nonsense. He was the best Roberts had available and he went with him. Roberts cannot be held responsible for Darvish's gag job. He is a professional and Roberts should be able to expect him to perform as such.
If you want to blame someone for the Dodgers' failure in game 7 blame the hitters for consistently failing with men in scoring position inning after inning. That's who you should be looking at.

Well said.

Either team deserved a win based on the seasons they had, but damn, Roberts screwed the pooch.

As you implied, the Dodgers' at bats likely would have been much different had they been down 0-2 or 1-2.

Nonsense? Jesus. I'm not sure I've read anything on tHoop that is more nonsense than "Roberts should be able to expect him to perform." By that logic, a manager should never lift a struggling starting pitcher until at least the seventh, because they should "be able to expect them to perform."

That's just a stupid thought process.

o why show a video of Carlos Correa if Carlos Carrera proposed?

Bwah ha ha. Not only a tool but a butthurt tool, I see. Its the players and not the manger who are responsible for the outcome of a game.

Roberts got fairly out-managed throughout the whole series

I dont think he was a horrible manager (C+), but he was a guy who managed on auto-pilot more than correctly managing the moment.

the Astros skipper had the better in-game touch and kept learned from his mistakes during the 7 games (A-).

Yes, I'm totally butthurt because a manager of a team I don't root for blew Game 7 for them. . .

I know I've read some of your posts before, but I can't remember if they were as retarded as this. Can anyone else on here shed a little light on Monty's ability to put together cogent posts?

Sorry, dude. I've just recently learned from a talking meatball that managers are never responsible for the outcome of games.

His first 2 pitches of the night were meatballs and it didn't get much better after that. It happens. Sometimes athletes have a bad day.. especially pitchers. It's up to the manager to recognize that and act accordingly. Roberts stayed with him waaay too long. If I was a Dodgers fan I'd be looking at Roberts.

I'm a baseball fan and I'm looking at Roberts for depriving us of a competitive Game 7.

Do you know what a baseball manager's job is ? Did you just start following the game ? Serious questions.
