3 reasons.

1. Miami did beat fsu and Syracuse. Bama best win and Clemson loss. So +1

2. Miami remaining schedule looks good.

3. I was drunk when I posted this so maybe I could drop Miami a spot or 2 but Wisconsin is still next 4 out as they've played nobody and their remaining schedule is nobody. They'll be in the b1g title game and if they win that their peak is 5 imo, first out.

You are pimping them for beating a 2-win Florida State that just lost to Boston College by 32? That's....something.

You must still be drunk now. If we win out, we'll make the playoffs. It won't even be close, really. Who are they gonna put in over us?

If Notre Dame wins out, they might be ranked ahead of us.
If Alabama/Georgia both win out and the game is close, maybe both the winner and the loser.

Then who?
The Oklahoma team who lost to a team that lost to Iowa?
The Ohio State team that we just would have beaten head to head?
The Penn State team who lost to the Ohio State team we would have just beaten?
The Clemson team who lost to fucking Syracuse?

If Miami wins out, they'd be ahead if us. That leaves four potential teams ahead of us. But two of those are 1-loss Notre Dame and undefeated Miami. Since Notre Dame and Miami play each other still, they can't both still happen. At worst, we would be #4.

I'm not remotely worried about it, and neither is our coaching staff. If they were, they wouldn't be keeping our best offensive weapon on the sideline for the second half of a game based on a minor ankle tweak. They wouldn't be ending games by kneeling in the red zone. They wouldn't be playing conservative and just running it straight up the middle the instant it was clear we were gonna win. If our team wanted to, we could have a lot more style points, but style points won't matter if we win out and our schedule is such that we won't make the playoffs with a loss no matter how many style points we have.

Clemson lost to Syracuse. Ohio State lost to Oklahoma. Clemson has struggled against teams while Ohio State has dominated everyone. Ohio State gets the advantage no matter what way you look at it.

Who did Clemson struggle with?

And by 'dominating' everyone, you mean losing to OU and winning at home, by 1, after a bye??

Clemson has beaten 6 P5 teams with winning records. OSU has beaten 1.

They left a conference champ out last year when they put OSU in and that didn't work out for them too well. It's because of the LSU vs Bama game that we have 4 teams atm. They put two teams from the same conference in and chances are the playoffs will move to 6 or even 8 teams.
8 teams & the sooner, the better.

So @MarkOU we're calling ISU a 'quality loss' these days?
Thus the problem with considering wins or losses "quality" before the entire schedules are completed. We fuckin' don't know.

At the time, the ISU loss by OU didn't look too swift. It is looking better and better...but it still may end up being a bad loss. Same for the Bama win against Florida State. At the time, it looked great. Now, not so much.

Clemson has beaten 6 P5 teams with winning records. OSU has beaten 1.

Clemson lost to an unranked Syracuse team that is 4-4. Ohio State lost to Oklahoma. Clemson struggled against Auburn and has the worst loss among the Top 10 teams right now. I'm not saying Clemson is a bad team, but Ohio State SHOULD be ranked ahead of Clemson at this point. Where Ohio State lacks in quality wins, they make up for by not losing to shit teams. Clemson's quality wins right now are against Virginia Tech and Auburn and that Auburn win can quickly become not so much of a quality win because they have Texas A&M, Georgia and Alabama left to play. You take win against Auburn out of the equation as a quality win and you have Ohio State beating #2 Penn State with a loss to Oklahoma and Clemson beating #12 Virginia Tech with a loss to Syracuse.

I think when records are the same, you have to consider wins just as much as losses. You seem to only consider losses.

Again - Clemson has 6 wins against P5 teams with a winning record. OSU has 1, and that came at home, after a bye, by 1 point.

I'm not sure why you discount the Auburn loss bc they 'might' lose upcoming games. PSU is OSU's best win, and I'm not even sure how good PSU is. They haven't exactly played anyone that good either (I think michigan is bad).

As of right now, Sunday Oct 29 these are mine

Alabama
Georgia
Ohio St
Notre Dame

Clemson
Penn St.

The SEC CG will Knock one team out, so no two conf. teams. OSU runs the table it will probably knock Wisc. out of a NYD's bowl. The rest....we'll. just wait and see.

I'm not discounting it yet. I'm looking towards the future. If Auburn loses to Georgia AND Bama, that win by Clemson over them by only 7 points doesn't really look that quality of a win, so that might not help Clemson in the future. You emphasize that OSU won by 1 point at home after a bye. That doesn't matter. A win over a #2 team is a win. Noone is telling Syracuse, "well that win isn't really a good win because you won by 3 and it was at home."

If Auburn beats Georgia or Bama then that win looks really good for Clemson and might make them look better but that loss to Syracuse still stings alot.

A 'win is a win' but 'Clemson struggled with Auburn'

got it.

Not sure that is true. I don't think the SEC CG knocks one team out if both enter that game 12-0
