At about 7 ft 230 lbs with a 7'4" wingspan, similar athleticism to LBJ (not quite but close) and can play all 5 positions. I think without question he can become the GOAT. I mean he might average a triple double this year and put up near 30 ppg with a 55% FG%. His defensive number might be out of this world good with 2.5 blk and 2 stl per game. He might have a couple quadruple doubles as he just recently had 5 blocks in about one half of b ball in his last preseason game. He has the court vision, the handles, the athleticism, the decision making and the only thing missing is a great three point shot which even MJ never had. He's been working hard on his shot and I believe he can get to what he had in his rookie season at 35% this season which would be respectable.

Many factors will play into this like, will he be traded, injuries, passion to be the best, etc. If he stays healthy I think without question he will be the best ever but won't be the most accomplished like MJ or LBJ.

KD the old kid made a great prediction despite him being a superstar himself. Props to him for acknowledging talent when he see's it.

Kid is an athletic FREAK.

GOAT?

Nah, Bruh......

Way to early to even suggest something like that.

I love this kid.

But, I haven't seen anything to lead me to believe he will be better than Duncan, let alone Jordan.

He's supremely athletically talented... so, sure, he "could" become the GOAT.

The physical component is only one aspect of the equation, though.... necessary but not sufficient.

Giannis will also need:
  • a never-say-die attitude
  • a lunchpale work ethic
  • a high motor
  • grit
  • to do the little things
  • intangibles
  • the eye of the tiger

If you look at your list of 7 things they are all kind of cliche jargon, and most of them mean the same thing.

Does he need to give 110% too? Does he need to come every day ready to play when the lights are shining brightest?

I'm not trying to hate but come on. Cool tiger pic though.

FTR, I don't think 110% effort will be good enough. Not if Giannis wants to be the greatest. He better kick that up to at least 130%. That's at least... it may take more.

And I'd further recommend that he buy an actual lunch pale... make his own lunch... and eat out of it every day. Because that one is not just a cliche... that sh!t works.

In all seriousness, think about how his physical attributes stack up to LeBron.

He is longer, but not nearly as strong or quite as explosive. LeBron is also highly intelligent and sees the game as well as anybody.

In order for him to someday be in GOAT talks, he will need to become one of the most skilled players in the league in addition to being one of the most athletic. He will need to win multiple championships and will need to be a great shooter in addition to being a triple double threat.

While I won't rule anything out for a player as talented as Giannis, it is highly unlikely he ever eclipses LeBron, let alone the mythical MJ. That isn't knocking him either. It is just the truth.

Meh. They have steroids, horse testosterone and what-not to keep these athletes tip top.

I heard LeBron knows a guy...

He's going to be a good 1 but I don't think he's going to be the GOAT.

If Giannis say averages for his career 27 pts, 7 apg, 7 rpg, and is able to bring his 3 point average to say a respectable 34%, how would you view that career? What about if you threw in a couple of titles, say 3. Then you have him for multiple All-NBA Defense teams? Then maybe he goes and wins 4 MVP Awards?

If Giannis fulfills his potential, develops a decent jump shot, what is his max ceiling? Answer: Lebron. Also the numbers above are Lebron's career resume.

Lebron is literally Giannis at a maxed out potential. Some people won't even put Lebron in their top 5 all time, so by that metric there's virtually no way Giannis could be in the GOAT conversation. Lebron did it at an earlier age, dominated the game for over a decade and still doesn't get the love he probably should.

Agreed, If he just brought that 3 pt shot up to what it was his rookie season at 35% the dude would average 30 ppg on much less shots than many before him that have averaged 30 ppg. His shot is good from mid range but the three just hasn't come along yet. We'll see how he does this season.
