this is where the "is it bill or tom" thing comes in...

Actually winning the close ones comes down to Bill. Even Brady can't win if his D doesn't show up, as was seen on opening night. Belichick is good at making sure the Pats are at least half way decent on D. Which when you have a GOAT QB, that's about all you need. It's why Brady has 5 Super Bowl rings and Peyton Manning only has 2.

I think it just proves Belichick > McCarthy. Billy knows how to make sure his team is well-rounded enough to win the close ones. Unless he's coaching against Denver. Then he just sucks.
PS
belichick in the reg season vs denver is 7-6 as a patriot

6-6 with brady
1-0 with cassel

playoffs bill is 0-3 in denver

8-9 overall
the pats are bad in general vs the AFC west...18-12 record, by far their worst.

Yup, just look at the last 2 Super Bowls where the defense gets no credit

Literally won the game vs Seattle

And made it possible for Brady to win it vs Atlanta, by giving up 7 second half point, creating turnovers, 3 and outs and huge sacks that won them that game

Stolen from my ride home last night on local radio, but i thought it deserved notice here.

When we all watched the pats comeback Sunday, us pats fans kinda felt it would happen. Just the way things broke. dropped INT, fumble recovery, etc...

According to PFR, this is what the comparison looks like between Brady and Rodgers, in games decided by 7 pts or less (regular season)...

Brady:

95 games
66-29 record (wins about every 2 out of 3)
then you get to the stats...
62.7% completion
158 TD/82 INT
89.6 rating
196 sacks (.48 per game)

Rodgers:

59 games
31-28 record (lets call it barely .500)
then you get to the stats...
62.9% completion
112 TD's/36 INT (thats awesome)
97.3 rating
165 sacks (.35 per game)

so, brady wins a lot more...a lot more...but performs at a lesser level than rodgers. rodgers, for how mobile he is, still gets sacked at a similar rate in these circumstances.

in general, when down, rodgers is a 98.3 rating guy. brady when trailing?

90.9

a lot of food for thought...
You heard all of that on your commute from the LR to the kitchen???

The Patriots win a lot more not Brady. Brady is a significant contributor, but not the entire team.

This is an interesting comparison, but in terms of the entire team...

I don't think anyone can argue Brady was consistently on a better team (coaching included).

the stat is down 7, meaning his job is to take the team to tie or lead.

granted defense plays a part...

but brady has had some AWFUL defenses. he once dragged a sergio brown and a james ihedigbo to a superbowl and they didnt have to buy a ticket either..

This is very true. Hope D does show up soon because I will be very hard for Brady to sustain high-scoring games and comebacks all season long. Someone mentioned that Pats D is ranked last in yards and points so far this year, I checked, it's true.

They have an insanely easy schedule, they havent even played any of the teams in that dreadful division, they will be absolutely fine

That could help, but the D has been uncharacteristically bad so far. Having said that, they always seem to gel toward the end of season. We'll see how it goes.

What a shame they haven't been able to play the 0-3 Gmen yet. Heck remind me doesn't that other crappy team from NJ have a win this season?
All that talent on the Gspots and not a win  the only explanation is the Gspots must be tanking knowing Eli's luck has finally run out.
