Curry is an idiot but he's my idiot............. as long as he keeps bringing my team titles that is. I love to watch the guy play but his political opinions mean nothing more to me than the guy's next door do, maybe even less.

I really don't care what your opinion of Curry is. Although I think it's funny you gave me a BS rating for mentioning that he said he wasn't going to the White House before Trump uninvited him. I guess that's fake news to you.

This. Great post.

I'm a white guy and my father was in law enforcement for 30 years (20 NYPD, 10 Vir State Trooper) so I'm obviously pro police. But I listen to some of the complaints coming from people of color and I've had some very similar experiences. My father gave me a talk about how to comport myself around police. Basically, keep your mouth shut, say yes Sir and no Sir and no sudden movements. If a white cop is going to tell his white son this I'm not sure why people of color are upset that they need to tell their kids the same thing.

Have I been pulled over because of my skin color. Yes, plenty of times. I worked in a black neighborhood and dated a woman of color. Cops, both black and white assumed I was there for prostitutes (Worked near Hunts point in the Bronx) or drugs (Girl lived in Jamaica Queens near a drug spot). I've had a gun shoved in my face and been forced to lay face down on the ground despite being totally respectful. I've had cops tell me straight out "We know why you're in this neighborhood". It got to the point I'd hand them my business card with my license and registration so they would know why I was there. Granted this was when NYC had 2000 homicides a year (Now 340) and the cops were more aggressive here.

I guess my point is, if this happened so often to me, a white g
were any of these nazies yutes??

There seemed to be yutes among them. No Utes, but definitely some yutes

I think you are joking. I honestly don't get the joke, but please don't ever compare me to those guys.
I was actually referring to the two eight year old children that were fighting like children. Not yourself. In this case you would be Trojanfan having to deal with them except that your job would have to be a lot more fun being that children are normally more mature the majority of the time

People have their own interpretation because it was poorly conceived "protest" and when he was finally asked about it, it was clear that it wasn't well thought out.

I mean, if you're going to protest something...it's probably a good idea to let folks know what you're protesting and why.
The message has been clear - but people have directly tied it to the flag & then to the men & women that have served our country. Once that was done the message became cloudy for many- but not all.

, but with all due respect - the black communities down in the ghettos, could do more for themselves by policing themselves and stopping their own from crime.
What other communities police themselves or stop their own from crime?

They don't police my neighborhood(the neighbors), but we don't have a problem. The police can't possibly stop everything - It's up to the members of the community to demand more and do more. My point is this. I am sympathetic with the innocent lives in those neighborhoods, I go there a few times a year, but white people aren't killing black people left and right down there and white people in all white neighborhoods are not killing white people left and right. Black people and Hispanics are killing each other in gang activity, drug deals gone bad, prostitution, pimping and organized crime. I agree that we all need to work together, but Colin's statement that this country oppresses people is simply bullshit.

I'm just going to say I disagree with this entire run-on paragraph & move on.

Let's just hope that somewhere in the life of the next generation that some one can find a way to stop the crime in the gang infested neighborhoods and instead of doing gangs, the young generation can be convinced to go to college. Very few people have had the opportunity that the professional athletes have had in comparison. It's hard to convince me that some one earning 10 million dollars a year really cares about these issues when they are piling their money into bank accounts and not doing more. I say let them put their money where there mouths are.

On the other hand, perhaps I have missed something, so you can always post a link that tells me what Colin and the others have actually done to help. For example even after he left Los Angeles, Shaq Oneal came back and gave out nice presents to people in those neighborhoods right before Christmas.

I'm pretty sure someone has already posted some of his charitable work, but here is something to start.
Colin Kaepernick has donated $700K of his $1M pledge to 24 different organizations

That donation says more than all of his talk on the football field. Personally, I think the way Kobe Bryant handled it when he started a foundation for the homeless in Los Angeles several years ago. He held a press conference and laid out his plan and it was a success when he started it with his own money. When they asked him basketball questions, he made it clear that basketball questions at that time was not the place and would be handled at the appropriate place and time. There is a time and place for all things - The football field is not the place for making statements.

As I said before - If you go and read the preamble in the constitution, it makes it clear that this nation stands for a more perfect union, to establish freedom, equality and justice for all. I don't argue that has not happened like it should, but the flag and our national anthem do stand for justice, not the crap happening on the streets. Don't blame the flag and anthem for the actions of the criminals. Slam them for not being true Americans. Let's get this straight so we can work together. For the record, I am in a black church and organization, so I have a pretty good feel that many do not agree with Mr Kaepernick

the problem here is Kaep wasn't blaming the flag or the anthem. His protest has nothing to the flag its self or the anthem. His protest is about those in power who choose to abuse their power & other Americans.

So, why is it ok to use the football platform to advertise their endorsements but not shed light on a growing problem across several communities. See, we don't have the right to pick & chose how people can use their platform when they're not committing any kind of criminal act.

If it is uncomfortable for you it is ok to say that - but that doesn't give you the right to tell him when & where to protest.

The comparison between what he's doing & how Kobe established his charity is way off. Kobe purposely wanted to keep the two separate because he didn't want to use his basketball status as a platform - he used his money to do that. Kaep on the other hand wants to use his football platform for the very purpose to gain as much attention to his cause as possible because his cause isn't about money. It's about equality for all.

It doesn't take donating money to contribute to Kaep's cause and turn things around. It takes compassion & empathy for others. He's asking people to dig down deep within themselves & IMO THAT is what has so many people uncomfortable.

Actually, if you go back and listen to when Kaepernick was first asked about it, it was pretty clear that it wasn't well thought out. Either that, or he lacks the ability to speak intelligently.

It became about the flag and national anthem because he sat during the anthem and didn't tell anyone why.

Additionally, he made it about the flag, the anthem and the country really, when he said that he wasn't going to support a country where there is injustice against people of color.

He showed his "protest" wasn't well thought out (and probably his true colors too) when he then talked about how well Fidel Castro runs Cuba.

Lebron James is little more than an ignorant baboon. This does not surprise me.
He's won more championships than a lot of players and been to the finals for how many years now and you're calling him ignorant? In your wildest dreams, you couldn't possibly even half as smart as him.

The exact words according to Wikepedia was he wasn't going to the stand for the flag or anthem of a country that oppresses people of color which is bullshit.

Bill Clinton got them to do oral - I bet Trump hates the Clintons because he never got that and is really jealous - Especially since Clinton wasn't really good looking:lol:

Yes -- Clinton did much worse stuff to women than Trump has ever done. (as far as we know ... and so far)

But ironically Bill also has been the best President working with "the other side" in the last 30-40 years. I was very disappointed in Obama -- he had a unique opportunity to help pull the country together -- both politically & related to race relations -- but he didn't do either one at all. Remember that the Colin Kaepernick stuff happened with Obama as President -- long before Trump came along. (the real problems were what bothered Colin K enough to cause him to take action)

Although Obama talked in a very reasonable way -- he didn't help pull the country together politically. Bill Clinton actually did. (Hillary didn't learn that lesson -- nor the "it's the economy, stupid" thing)
