lately they've played well enough to test Florida State but screw up late to lose. They haven't beaten the Noles under Fisher much

Don't have to complete passes out of it for it to have some impact on the defense. If it makes them stay home on outside quick passes it impacts other plays.

That right there is why the targeting penalty does not make sense. You can tell the refs don't even agree with the rule. He had "this is ridiculous" in his voice when he said "After the review..."

That's been about a quarter of the targeting ejections this year. The NCAA is paranoid.
