Here's guessing the little spy who delivered the scroll meets an untimely fate and her face ends up elsewhere.
That would certainly be cool.

I still wonder who's setting up who here. I feel like Arya is smarter than to fall for any of his tricks.

I do too... and still do.

And I am still not discounting the Three-Eyed Raven who gave her that dagger from being a part of this also.

The Bronn/Jamie escape maneuver is a tough one.
Must be a strong undercurrent....
Furthermore, how does Tyrion know they both survived, as it was Bronn that Tyrion found to set up the meeting with Jamie.

Cersei and Euron have naval dominance.
Yet, Jon and the gang hop a ship from Dragonstone to Eastwatch.
Granted, other side of the island, but a part of Euron's fleet trashed the Unsullied boats.
Wouldn't they be patrolling that coast?
Ser Davos essentially parks right at Kings Landing and smuggles in Tyrion and gets both Tyrion/Gendry out.

I liked the Sam/Gilly scene. I would imagine someone will protest the claim of Jon's heritage, but will it be Sam or Gilly that speaks up?

Why didn't Ser Davos ask Gendry if he can forge valyrian steel or work with dragonglass?
I thought that was the whole purpose of going to find him.

While it looked like Ser Jorah and Dany were saying their last goodbyes, I would think that Ser Jorah survives, more so that he can ask for forgiveness from young Lady Mormont.

The Dream Team. Jon, Hound, Beric, Thoros, Tormund, Gendry, Jorah.
Can easily see Beric/Thoros sacrificing themselves to allow the others to escape.
Could also see the Hound suffereing wounds and someone driving dragonglass into his heart.
Undead Cleganebowl!

By the way, are Jon and Jorah the only ones with valyrian steel?
Did they bring any dragonglass?
Jorah doesn't have any valyrian steel.

Jon Snow has the Mormont family sword. Jorah only has normal steel.

How long until Bronn jumps over the war lines? He's smart and self-preserving. He has to know his fortunes law better with Tyrion than with Jamie.

Longclaw. You are correct, sir.
Thank you.

So, who's brilliant idea was it to catch a zombie/white walker with one weapon capable of killing a white walker? I mean, couldn't they dig up a corpse, lay it at the ground of Dany/Cersei's feet and say, this is what is coming....

Or do you think they will actually bag a real zombie, tie it up, and bring it back?

Because nobody would believe that. It's got to be 'living' dead.

But so much of it is just so poorly done.

Heh.

So all the stuff that the show does better than any tv show ever, (battles, dragons, etc) is ... okay.

But simple SOD stuff we see in every TV show, (hero living through a narrow escape) is 'poorly done.'

C'mon Ed.

I was just about to ask why the normally cynical crowd up here hasn't already hammered this point.

I mean they are knocked into the water with a dragon and whole army near them. Somehow they come out onto an empty shore and just ride back home.

Talk about teleportation.

This stuff has been in the books too. The Onion Knight survives the wildfire in the Battle of the Bay, and in the best novel/tv show tradition gets washed out to sea miles and miles, and doesn't drown.

It's suspension of disbelief people.

TV shows don't work without it. Every cop show in history is FULL of ridiculous shit you have to swallow, unless your idea of a great show is watching cops fill in paperwork for 45 of 46 minutes every week.

I wouldn't be shocked either way but I'm leaning towards him dying a noble death north of The Wall.

Like father like son... Though I guess his father's death wasn't terribly "Noble"...

They'll be fine vs the wights, as fine as you can be when you are being swarmed by a horde of undead.

It's avoiding the actual White Walkers that will be key. That's where you need the dragonglass. I would assume Jon brought some dragonglass with him.

Gendry should maybe replace the tip end of his war hammer with some dragonglass...

Even you have to admit a little bit of "BSG Syndrome" may be occurring here. Where they have painted themselves into a corner because they have to wrap up a well told and well done show (to this point) in a set number of episodes...

In fact, I guess that really IS what is happening.

But I'll shock you and say, "I'm with you chf..."... I mean really folks, they have to move some of this along and worrying about how someone got from point A to point B is a bit trifling and unimportant.

Except... I'll give you Bronn and Jaimie. That was very "Rick and the Camper" to me... Does Jaime's armor double as a submarine? I mean we were all wondering how he wouldn't drown right where he fell into the water, but they really one-upped us there by not only having him survive it, but swimming under water for half a mile in his armor?!!! C'mon guys!

The way I look at it is this. Is there a less improbably way of depicting something happening that may not be as compelling on screen?

We have an tendency to assume that GoT time is linear and roughly equivalent to our time but I don't think that is necessary. The books are filled with road stories talking about some person crossing Westeros and/or Essos. They are barely interesting in the books. They would be utterly useless in TV format when you only have 7 hours to tell the equivalent of an entire book.

As far as the Jaime/Bronn/Drogon thing, I put that down for dramatic effect. That scene really didn't effect the plot. It was just a way to show Jaime dealing with the horror of the dragons, in a not very rational way.

The stuff I get annoyed by is the implausible stuff that is core to the story. This show does fairly well not doing that but does fall victim on occasion.

The main thing that bugs me about all the moving around in short periods of "TV time" is that Baby Sam is still a baby when it seems like all kinds of time is passing with everyone else.

Maybe he is not a little baby but a dwarf.

How old does baby-Sam look? 2 yo?

In the scene where the Maester council was deciding how to respond to the wight threat, Sam stated that he let Bran through the wall "years ago". That was after he returned from the North with Gilly and baby-Sam in tow, wasn't it?
