I was praying Oregon would keep Helfrich on for at least one more season.

No chance that was happening after hearing stories of how much control over the team he lost.

Helfrich's biggest fvckup imo was not firing Hoke. In fact he should have never hired him in the first place. Hoke never was a DC unless you count his days coaching high school football.

It was deeper than a DC hire. There were reports of players skipping workouts with no consequences. He also let a few players become poison in the locker room. There's a reason Taggart was quick to dismiss Carrington after his DUI.

Oregon is also going to sign 28 players because of the attrition during the coaching change. That will improve their ranking. My guess is Oregon ends up top 15, possibly top 10 if they land all their top targets.

I thought the NCAA out in a hard cap on 25 players recently. I am not sure though

I don't think so.

Alabama, Michigan, Oklahoma, Maryland, Virginia Tech, Michigan State, Colorado, Baylor, Missouri, Rutgers, Washington State, Arizona, Illinois, etc all signed more than 25 players last year.

The cap goes in THIS year. It was made effective in April.

Do you have a link? All the insiders discussing recruiting are saying Oregon is taking 28. I doubt they all forgot about this new rule. Maybe it's not a hard cap?

4-star Center Fredrick Scruggs out of Erie, PA has committed to Penn State.

Fredrick Scruggs, Cathedral Prep, Center (FB)

That makes 21 commits so far for the Nits in the 2018 class with a 247 composite average of 90.42

Here are the numbers for the Buckeyes and I don't see anyone including Bama catching us in 2018 recruiting. These are pretty sick numbers.
  • Natl Rank: 1
  • Big-Ten Rank: 1
  • Avg Rating: 0.9510
  • I still think we will get:
  • Micah Parsons, Tyreke Smith, Anthony Cook, and possibly a flip somewhere?

4* LB Dashawn White to commit to OU tomorrow or Sunday. Like this kid. He has legit coverage skills.

I think there is still a factor in how many did they take the prior year and with that how many enroll early.

Surprise, surprise, surprise.

At one point, 4-star DT Calvin Avery out of Dallas, TX was considered a strong lean towards TCU...but Lovie Smith worked some magic and Avery committed to Illinois today (Friday 8/4).

Calvin Avery, Bishop Dunne, Defensive Tackle

Congrats to the Fighting Illini.

I imagine the upcoming $80 million football facility will help Illinois recruiting.

Illini unveil Football Performance Center plans

That one is a surprise. Thought he was TCU bound for sure.

He was big Husker lean early on but we just weren't taking much for DT this year. Everything showed TCU so agree is a Big surprise. One of Husker guys was saying he heard some academic concerns too.

I remember people talking about that. I don't know all the new rules but that sounds right.
