Yesterday, after John McEnroe got suckered into answering a dumb question on whether Serena could beat male tennis players (she can't):

I'd like to see Serena take on Johnny Mac ala Billie Jean King vs. Bobby Riggs part deux.

Well, Genie lost in Rd.1 at Wimbledon. Did quite well in Set 1 but lost in 3 sets.

Don't see 6-1, 1-6, 1-6 too often

Genie Bouchard loses in first round.

Posts we keep on file here, right next to Milos Raonic blames injury for loss and Rafa Nadal wins French Open.

Raonic in straight sets - two of them tie-breakers.

I know he has regressed a bit this season, but I'm hoping Wimbledon can reinvigorate him. But yeah, as BBB joked about above, the injuries are getting tiresome.

I don't know about the regression Dacks, I mean, he has made two ATP finals this year (didn't win either of them), but he's still playing some pretty fine tennis. As far as the injuries are concerned, he's brought on a new guy to handle nutrition and training, so hopefully he can provide the magic tonic to keep Milos healthy.

Raonic is into Round 2. He'll take on Mikhail Youzhny in the next round.

I haven't seen a lot of tennis this year - combination of toddler / 9-month-old son - but it seems to me fair to see we've seen a *slight* regression considering how stellar last year was. And I did see that he recently changed coaches too. He just seemed so close to that major-winning breakthrough last season, that anything less than making a few semis or a final this year will seem like a step back.

At his age, though, I think that's fine. Two steps forward, one step back and all that. I would like to see him manage his health a bit better though, with guys his size, there's always the injury concern. Just tennis in general, the intensity of the circuit, seems like a lot of players area always injured.

Just saw Wrawrinka lost today too. Does that open up anyone's draw?

Not for Milos as he is on a collision course with Alex Zverev and then likely Roger in the quarter-finals (if he can get by Zverev). Wawrinka going out this early is good news for Andy Murray.

Well, I've never seen that before, a player tossing change at the umpire's chair (Medvedev was apparently unhappy with some calls made by the umpire during his match which he ended up losing).

Why does he have a change purse, and why does he have it with him on court?

Are the showers at the All England Club coin-op?

Not that there's anything wrong with that?

Not that I don't think he sounds like a bit of a pompous ass but where exactly was he unsportsmanlike here? What did he say that deserved that much of a fine?

Tomic fined $15K, loses racket sponsor - Article - TSN

It has to do with the sordid history of match fixing in tennis, BBB (not necessarily at the highest levels of the sport, although Davydenko certainly paid a high price for throwing matches about 10 years ago or so). The tennis tour is certainly going to come down hard on anyone that alleges they are not trying their best or showing disinterest in a match.
