Randolph would be a nice fit imo.
Yeah....

I'm unclear if they will have the midlevel or the room exception.o

But, that might get them a ring chaser/older fringe Allstar.

Mid-Level Exception (Non-Taxpayer):

Year Salary

2017/18
$8,406,000
2018/19 $8,826,300
2019/20 $9,246,600
2020/21 $9,666,900

Total $36,145,80

Room Exception:
Year Salary
2017/18
$4,328,000
2018/19 $4,544,400
Total $8,872,400

Brown and Tatum are on the squad.
Hopefully Rozier, too... Him and Smart would make respectable depth at the G position.

What's happening to Brown, Tatum, Crowder, Bradley, and Zeller? Are all traded? Zeller looks like he could be included in a July 1 deal and then waived by the receiving team and his contract wouldn't be guaranteed. I'm not sure they'd have to trade all those guys to make it work.

Looks like you would keep Smart, Tatum, Brown...

Lose Rozier, Crowder, Bradley and picks.

I thought we were looking for a rim protector?
Gotta think they would have to trade Horford.

How about Henson and Parker from the Bucks?

Would have said Monroe.

But, he's a skid row version of Horford.

So, why bother?

Horford would be great with Giannis.

Only issue is the guys you'd be getting are constantly injured.

So, pass...

According to that guy...

... doesn't seem impossible (to me) that a relatively cheap player like Rozier couldn't somehow be fit in to the mix... ?

But I'm totally spiff-balling... I don't pretend to be an expert on the cap.

Thanks. I definitely misread that, though I'm not sure why he lists them the way he does. I glossed right over Tatum and Brown.
The 6 vet minimum or 2nd rounders is what stuck out for me.

Which is why I asked would this really be seen as a stacked roster?

Reminds me to much of my Clippers lack of depth over the years.

That is a really strong roster. Would be a serious championship contender most years. Definitely capable of beating Cleveland, don't think they could hang with GS though. Avery Bradley's defense was one of the main reasons they matched up well with GS before.

I have to think the Celtics would be able to find a cheap big or two like the Warriors did last year. All they would need is 2 bodies that could provide 15-20 solid minutes of defense and rebounding. Zizik could perhaps be one.

I mean, the guy was an Assistant GM in the NBA for a couple of years and now crunches numbers for WoJo at the Vertical.

So, he probably knows what he's talking about. But, doesn't mean guys can't be added, or subtracted, from the deal.

It's from Wojo....:noidea:.

Sounds like they have a deal, unless someone sneaks in before July 1.

I'm surprised George is on board......which seems implied?

If this happens, I owe @knowyourenemy an apology.

For salary-cap purposes, Boston wants a Hayward commitment before it can finalize a trade for George and secure the most dynamic free-agent coup in franchise history, league sources said.

For Boston, here’s the hitch: While Indiana believes Boston can offer the best possible package, the Pacers may be unwilling to wait until the start of July free agency on Boston’s timetable and could turn toward making a deal elsewhere for George, league sources told The Vertical.

If the Pacers are unwilling to wait until mid July even, then they are really foolish. There is nothing anybody can give them that would be more valuable than the Nets pick. Unless the Lakers deal Ball, they need to wait it out. Absolutely no reason To rush.

Hmm. Sounds like Ainge needs to find a way to make those Porzingis rumors a reality too.

Porzingis/Hayward/George/Smart/IT. Now we're cooking with propane.

I think they want the Lakers to go all in, which will also make the Celtics offer go up.

Otherwise, wait until July 1.

Likewise, the Lakers would be equally foolish to significantly up their bid. If the Celtics get George, so be it. There will be other marquis names coming available in 2018. Lakers will Be players for any of them.

Randolph, Taj, Illaysova....
Only guy on that list that I really like for the role is Randolph.

Taj would be ok / fair.

I've never liked Illaysova (sp?) whatsoever. Guy sucks.

Learn from the Knicks!

If they have to include Ball or Ingram, it isn't worth it. Without those pieces to pair with George, they will not be able to do much of anything except hope to land 2 more big FAs.
