Leaves:
Reed
Johnson
Ellington

Stays:
UD
McGruder
Waiters

I'm more likely wrong on Waiters and Johnson so they may be flipped. But given that we drafted a 4 and still have Babbit who played the 4, I think Johnson may be more expendable now.

Johnson showed that he is a REALLY GOOD player. He created so many favorable matchups because of his ball handling skills.
Babbit is pretty much one dimensional garbage and Bam is IMO a project.

You're probably right. That's why I went with both he and Waiters being flips in my list. Given that we have an abundant amount of guards, I feel like we can move on from Waiters.

On Wade, unless I have my timeline wrong, Wade opted in and then the Bulls decided to trade Butler. Can't really blame him for wanting a buyout.

Agree to a point. But the Bulls have always had this reputation and Butler has always been rumored to be on the trade block for the last two seasons. Sounding like a broken record here, but I just find Wade's current situation ironic - he left Miami, not only for the money but because he didn't want to go to another rebuild and wanted to go on a competitive team. Now he's on a team that's going through a rebuild.

Yeah, I'm not saying he isn't getting what he deserves. He had a good situation in Miami and had a GM that has proven he can make changes/rebuild on the fly. Wade should have trusted him.

Instead, he chose to go to a team that has been looking to start a rebuild for 2 years, so that's on him.

I think I can sum up the NBA draft :

If you down with TTP, then you loved the Markelle Fultz pick and taking fliers on Bolden and two Eurostashes.
If you hate the Sixers, then you bring up chronic injury issues to ease your concerns.

If you like the Celtics, you got the player you wanted and another future asset.
If you hate the Celtics, you tease them for being snubbed by Josh Jackson and convince yourself that the LAL 2018 and SAC 2019 picks will not convey in the way that they had hoped.

If you like the Lakers, then you are on board the Ball train and headed towards the playoffs.
If you hate the Lakers, you sarcastically congratulate them on scoring 125 point a night, but giving up 130.

If you like the Knicks, hey, wait a minute, we found the one!

Sixers have a great group of young talent in Embiid, Simmons and now Fultz. Hopefully they can stick together and form a great trio that makes tanking for the number of years that they've done it worth it. Plus, if Embiid stays healthy, you'd have to think that Okhafor gets traded and the 76ers will get quality for him.

I think Josh Jackson knew he wasn't going to get drafted by Boston, so why work out for them? I'm teasing the Celtics because Ainge is just collecting draft picks and using them to get in role players. He needs a star to add to his team. Given what Minnesota gave up for Butler, Boston had more then enough to give Chicago.

The Lakers get their true PG. Hopefully Lavar goes off into the shadows now.

The only quality we are getting for Okafor is if the NBA invents a 3rd round of drafting....

The Sixers have a very nice group of young talented players. However, until they show they can put that group out on the court together at the same time for more than half a season, the injury concerns are legit.

On the surface, it's a little hard to understand what the Celtics are doing. Do they want to try to go after a title? Or do they want to continue to gather assets for the future? Getting Al Horford and apparently keeping IT seems like they should be trying to go after a title now. Not pulling the trigger when they had a shot at Butler seems like they want to just continue building for the future. With the drama that is apparently going on in Cleveland, they may want to go after the Cavs now.

Or maybe they want to compete for a title, but Ainge's desire to "win" every trade is holding them back?

I like them drafting Ball, he seems to be a perfect fit for what they want to do on offense. But clearly, Luke is going to have to figure out some way to get these guys to at least play average team defense. Otherwise, they are going to be the most exciting, fun to watch, 30 win team in the league. If they can get the PG-13 deal done, that will help a lot.

Gordon Hayward is a key here, in my opinion.

If the C's are confident they can scoop up Hayward... passing on Butler makes a lot more sense.

True. If they get Heyward, that definitely puts them in a great position to compete directly with the Cavs. Apparently, the 2 most likely destinations for Heyward are Boston and Miami. That should be pretty interesting to watch when FA gets started.

PG will bring defense from the 2, as will Hart in his minutes. Ingram is an improving defender. Nance is a solid defender in his minutes, as is Zubac. They have some defensive ability on the roster and in their future, it just may take until 2018 to get here (PG here, Lopez gone).

Wade had until June 27 to make the decision. Knowing that the Butler situation was undetermined, it made no sense for him to opt-in prior to the draft. Stupid decision by him to do so without all the information on the table.

I feel the same about Blake and his early onset osteoporosis.

It was out there that Butler could be traded.

Granted, it's been out there for years.

Wade knew it was a strong possibility and wanted the money, and I don't blame him.

Buy, I wouldn't give him his money and his freedom to go to the Cavs too.
