What I took from this is lol at New York. 19 players in a state with that kind of population?

New York is a hockey state.
There are 60 Division I college hockey programs in the nation.... 10 of those are in New York.

Other states with a lot of Div I college hockey programs:
Massachusetts - 10 programs
Michigan - 7 programs
Minnesota - 5 programs

Yup.... over half of the Div I college hockey programs come from the above 4 states.

RUTGERS might be the single most underachieving program in all of football relative to local talent,

New Jersey produces the hell out of talent with only ONE FBS school in the entire state.
Plus, Two of its border states don't even have a big state football school in DE and NY to steal cross-border talent.

In CA, FL, and TX you have double digit FBS programs fighting for the same recruits, plus other states next door that have good programs like OK, GA, AL, LSU, ARK, OR, AZ.

Michigan has been raiding NJ over the last 4-5 years. They have signed the #1 guy out of NJ 3 of the last 4 years and have signed 12-15 guys from the state, including Jabrill Peppers and Rashan Gary.

They have some serious talent in that state. I believe the one year we missed on the top player in NJ, it was Minkah Fitzpatrick (sp) who is a stud for Alabama.

When I pointed out the state of Michigan had one five star recruit in the last 10 years or 2 if you want to include incoming freshman.

The caliber of high school players from Michigan and Alabama are on completely different levels.

I did notice the state of Alabama has a down year in terms of elite high school talent for 2018. I think I saw they only have 1 top 100 recruit. Going out on a limb and saying the streak of #1 recruiting classes will come to an end.
