Sure it does. Certainly they knew he was going to fail. It's a guaranteed roster spot. Someone that touches the ball a LOT, you get the guy you want.

Perhaps you're right...scrap that...actually you are right.

Word is another team was going to draft Holba. Of course we'll never know that, but getting the guy they wanted when they almost certainly knew Warren would not be able to play made sense.

If a monkey is going to fornicate with a football it should just jump on and start humping.

How many wins is a 6th round pick worth to you?

While a great and consistent LS will never win a game for you, a LS that fucks up sure can lose one.

That they took this guy with a 6th shows they recognize him as the cream of the crop.

Here's to Xavier Grimble & Phazahn Odom! I wonder if they'll be pursuing Barnidge a little more aggressively now? @ATL96Steeler

We can spin anything that way if we want. The fact is teams usually don't draft LS as a position and there is a reason for that. Cream of the crop means he's as good as some guy off the street they could have signed.

Bittersweet.

Obviously in his best interest. You know the Steelers didn't want to let him go...time to find another career...got a nice chunk of cash to walk away with.

The draft is coming even more into focus now. While Juju is not a TE, he's an inbetween the hash marks player with RAC...big body.

I personally would be going after Barndige. We shall see.

They almost need to now don't they? Ugh. Off season from hell.
I think what ATL said is spot on... With the return of Bryant, and the addition of JuJu... The offense is fully stocked without Green. James, DJ & Grimble will be more than enough to fill the TE packages.

Gary Barnidge would still be a good target to look at. Make sure he's actually healthy now though.

But yeah, barring that, JuJu is a perfect seam runner for his rookie campaign.

Baring injury and/or another Bryant idiot circus act I agree. I don't see JuJu being a factor in the first couple of years but I hope I'm wrong. An injury or a selfish act could change the look of the offense quickly though and having that dynamic TE like Green was a nice ace in the hole. I don't think Barnidge is dynamic but I do think he could help if we have to lean on that position more than we expect.

I think they have to at least kick the tires on Gary Barnidge to see if he's healthy or not. On the other hand, I expect them to be a lot more cautious with signing TEs with bad injury histories after the Green experience. But I could be wrong.

I'm going to guess that they had some inkling about Green's health status dating back to last year. Maybe they would have taken Njoku, and come back for an edge player at 62. We'll never really know that answer.

Looking at how the draft played out...if they did have intentions with Njoku at 30, there was not really a worthy TE to take at 62. Juju doesn't really seem to represent insurance for a Bryant slip (imo Hunter does) so they had to be looking at a middle of the field presence and this kid fits it. If Rogers could be somewhat of a factor as an UDFA, I'd like to think Juju can be as a 2nd rd pick. We'll have to see how it works out.

That said, I'm all in on Barndige. No, he's not Green from a dynamic stand point, but I'm not sure if he needs to be...I think he's better than Grimble and James
