As long as the East stays weak and he stays on a stacked team, he'll probably maintain the level hes currently at or dip slightly. He doesn't have to carry the load like other guys do

You do realize he leads his team in MPG, Scoring, Assists, Rebounding (might be 2nd to TT), and overall defensive efficiency? I don't know how that's not carrying the load.

Intent is always a slippery slope. The only real way to combat this is by putting a rule in place, similar to as you said a flagrant on elbowing. I thought actually D-West should have gotten a flagrant in yesterdays game when he elbowed Lee in the chops.

But the Warriors would be in favor of this too. Curry has this happen to him all the time on his shots. Guys run up under his feet. I don't think intent is ever there, but the way they close out on him is necessary because he's such a great shooter.

It happened to him yesterday as well.

Pop's angry reaction makes me feel like he was given some bad news today about Kawhi's health
Pop's isn't usually like this. Maybe he has to much wine in him today?

Yep, I agree. The league needs to do it I think to protect people like Curry, Kawhi, Durant, Harden, etc.

Kobe was knocked out of his last trip to the playoffs by the same play, I think it was Dahntay Jones that did it to him. I remember Kobe was calling for the league to do something about it.

Exactly. This happens on 7 out of 10 jump shots. The other 3 that don't happen aren't solid closeouts, imo. It's just really unfortunate it happened to their best player on an ankle that was already injured. Re-injury for ankles is a huge problem.

I swear LeBron is immune to ankle sprains. I mean how many times have we seen him roll his ankle, re-tie his shoe and keep playing?

Now excuse me while I go find some wood to knock on.
I just hope if it's going to happen it doesn't happen while they're playing GS - hate to see them get blamed for that too!

I agree. No way to know intent. If the league wants to get rid of this play, they'll have to impose a harsher penalty, regardless of intent. Like elbowing someone in the face. That's worthy of a flagrant, regardless of whether you meant to or not.

Like Pop said, "I don't give a damn about intent, you still go to jail for manslaughter"
LOL, was Pop trying to compare the play yesterday to manslaughter? Pops has to ease up on the wine.

What I'm most encouraged about from the Warriors was that Klay and Draymond had probably the worst halfs of basketball they have each played this entire year in the 1st half. Klay still struggled from the field but the thing for me was that he was still really engaged defensively and played really well on that end of the court. That usually doesn't happen too often when he's struggling offensively.

Draymond made some really boneheaded plays in the 1st half that were out of his nature. He seemed to really settled down in the second half.

Also love that the Spurs actually punched the Warriors in the mouth. Win or lose, that game was going to be an eye opener for them. The Warriors basically coasted in the 1st two rounds while the Spurs faced challenges that made them step up their games. It's unfortunate that Kawhi went down, but in the playoffs these things happen. And a win at this stage is huge.

The best thing though to me was Kerr's speech to the team at halftime. It was calm, it was collected, it was productive. It wasn't a rah-rah speech to get the guys fired up. One of the few things I agree with Shaq on is his quote "If the captain panics, the crew panics." Kerr had no panic to his voice. He let the team know what they were missing and what they needed to do to correct it.

Anybody remember Zaza dragging Leonard down by his arm last year? Pretending like he was tangled up with him.

I still say Pop should've rested Kawhi for game 1 anyway. They only had a couple of days off between the Houston series and this one & each team could afford to lose game 1. But now, he's hurt again & really they may not get him back healthy if at all.

It's the WCF against the best team in the NBA. I don't think you rest him if he's good to play. But maybe that's just me.

I would agree if they were further into the series. But game 1? The Spurs are good enough of a team to recover from a loss in game 1 - but only if they have Kawhi. The problem with not resting him in game 1 is the risk of him further injuring that ankle- which ended up happening. Too high of a risk imo.

I will describe Pachulia like Cavs fans described Delly: He's not intentionally dirty, he's just a scrappy guy & goes after it full force. He's willing to sacrifice his body for the team.

It shows a history of being a dirty player is the point. Yesterday, he took out Leonard, Old Timer.
DJ, the NBA is a rough and tough sport and has been for years. The old "bad boys" of the Pistons were rough and touch, Kevin McHale of the Celtics was rough and tough. There is/was no proof that he took out Leonard on purpose.

I disagree, I think to an extent he's a dirty player. Real being real. But that being said after watching the play a bunch of times, I don't believe what he did yesterday was dirty. It was an unfortunate play, but it happens all the time.
