So, the talk last season and the beginning of this season is and had been why the Wiz continue to have issues on defense. I would think Scott Brooks would have been able to address this on-going problem but he cannot fix what is broken. Taking a closer look, it appears the Wiz have no rim protector (shot blocker) and while Wall might be able to recover on defense and block shots from behind, he and Beal play little defense on the end of the court that counts. Top that with frequent nights of poor shooting percentage by both and ultimately the Wiz lose to lesser teams. I'm of the opinion the problems start and end with Wall and Beal. Getting other teammates involved and to follow (buy in) usually happens when you lead by example. These 2 are not getting it done on defense, period!
So, why add another star player when your own stars are under performing? Granted, Beal has stepped up his offensive game but more likely due to Wall's injury/missing time and those around him unable to score on a consistent fashion. As bad as I want a Championship in DC, giving up a player with Oubre's potential doesn't excite me and he is likely part of any deal to include a pick to obtain a star in return.
