OK, so look I know you Yankee fans put up with a ,lot of shit that is basically jealousy at it's source. Fine, whatever, long lasting success has it's enemies. Although I don't like the Yankees, I have always respected (up until this year) their organization for consistently doing whatever it takes to put a winning ballclub on the field. A lot of their players are trure greats of the game, men to be honored and celebrated.
Then along comes A-Rod. Now, I get why he was signed etc and cheered for years..until now. But as however bad his steroid use was or was not, his absolutely deplorable....douchebag-grade....snitching of his confidants, his chronic lying....I don't know, those didn't seem like "Yankee values." Indeed, at first it sure seemed like the team tried very, very, very hard to distance themselves from him. His fans did too.
Then, he wins the battle and gets let back on the field. He passes 3,000 hits. The fans are cheering him wildly, which...outside of New York City.....is raising a collossal sense of "WHAT ON FUCKING EARTH IS WRONG WITH YANKEE FANS?" But what is somehow even weirder is now the team is trying hard to get the 3,000 hit ball back. Why on Earth would they care? About this self-evidently detestable scumbag?
That a small subset of Yankee fans are so whorish for a few cheap wins they celebrate this is bound to be inevitable in a fanbase of many millions. But why the organization? Do they not recognize the celebration of this putrid scumbag of a human being, who has done more to ruin baseball than anyone else by a longshot, is not worth his puny WAR? You are selling your entire reputations away...does that really not matter to you, Yankees? I am one of a lot of people who defended you against the many jealous brainless sheep....but now you are making us ashamed. I want to quit watching baseball altogether now...over a guy and a team I really fundamentally don't even care about. Does anyone even care?
