Once again Joe Maddon has this team in line to compete for an AL East title and NOBODY is talking about them. My thoughts:
Starting Rotation:
1. David Price: Should be right up there near 20 wins again
2. Jeremy Hellickson: Needs to win closer to 15 than the average 10-12 he's been putting up
3. Matt Moore: I expect an explosion this year. 15+ wins
4. Jeff Niemann: Needs to stay healthy
5. Alex Cobb: Shown flashes of greatness. Needs to be consistent.
Look out for Chris Archer and Jake Odorizzi.
Line up:
1. Desmond Jennings: Needs to be a 20-40 guy. Will he? Probably not. Has all the potential to be however.
2. Yunel Escobar: Finally a solid SS for the Rays. Could be the biggest off season move aside from Will Myers.
3. Matt Joyce: Consistency please! A solid year from Matt Joyce would be much appreciated
4. Evan Longoria: STAY HEALTHY! One of the best players in all of baseball if healthy.
5. James Loney: Brought in more for his glove and average. I'll take a season of .275+ at the plate.
6. Ben Zobrist: Quietly one of the most consistent players in baseball.
7. Kelly Johnson: Huge acquisition. Needs to be a 20-20 guy.
8. Luke Scott: Blah.
9. Jose Molina: How is he still our catcher?
Look for Will Myers to be up sometime in May which ultimately means Luke Scott will lose a ton of at bats if he can't produce any better than last year. Got a lot more guys that can get on base this year. If Evan is healthy to drive them in and the Rays can get any sort of pitching out of 4 and 5 they will be there at the end.
