Bury FC and Bolton Wanderers, both in League One, are facing expulsion from the EFL and liquidation unless miracle ownership groups appear out of thin air.
Bury have existed in some form since 1885; Bolton have played since 1871, and were were founder members of the EFL back in 1888. As recently as 2012, Bolton Wanderers played in the Premier League, before yo-yo-ing between the Championship and League One the past six seasons.
A sad day for both of these communities.
Lots of questions about how this could happen, with so much TV money being thrown around. One short answer is "bad ownership" but that doesn't answer everything.
If the unthinkable happens, I'll hope both clubs can be resurrected somehow, and maybe one day find their way back to the FL.
