White dudes in black face isn't cool anymore man. Just sayin...Finally got something to post here. Went bank fishing over the weekend, caught a pretty nice smallmouth out of the Huron River:
Caught it on a 5'' Senko, about 5 feet from the shore; felt like I was snagged on something. Great fighter. Also caught a few 1.5 pound largies but not worth a picture.
I wanna be you.Ok, got home Tuesday nite. Trip was amazing. I want to go back. After 5 days in the wilderness, completely detached from civilization...coming back to all this was a bit depressing , to say the least.
Fishing was tough. Water was chocolate milk and raging. We caught some, including one lunker brown, but I don't have everyone's pics yet. Here's some of what I have...

Nice! Just bought my first tent; Coleman elite weathermaster 6. Going to try and get my family into camping. I haven't been true camping (outside a rustic cabin) since I was in HS. I want to get them out to a spot just like your pics. I'm thinking of taking them up to the UP to pictured rocks this summer, there's a nice river you can stay on right where it connects to lake superior in the national park. And if they like it, I'm planning on going full rustic. For like $5 you can just go camp on some boat-in spots up in northern Michigan.Ok, got home Tuesday nite. Trip was amazing. I want to go back. I'm thinking of watching the weather this summer and picking a weekend with little threat of bad weather. Trying to make it as close to glamping as possible while also trying to find some rustic spots to put it up.Nice. Good for you.
This was a 60 mile stretch, with one put-in and one takeout. You are committed once on it. I left the kids and wife behind, and I'm kinda glad I did. Being a Spring float (which is kinda necessary, as once the water drops, it would be very difficult to float, especially needing gear/weight, and that it would take twice as long), but being that it's in Spring in Central Montana, the weather is violently erratic. It went from pushing 80 to pushing 50 in less than 24 hours. Saturday nite, it freaking POURED for like 4 hours, and was windy as hell.. Last nite there, it dipped into the high 30's and was pissing rain, and then it rained the last day out and was windy and cold.
Canyon was stunning tho.
Catfish creak me out man. I don't know what it is. yes I do. It's the whiskers. They creep me out. I catch a catfish I'm just shooting it haha.Went out fishin for Cats this past weekend... We caught about 10 in all. Most were around 5-8 lbs channel cats. Granted I was using this crusty old spring-loaded weight scale that is probably garbage in terms of accuracy lol.

Hahaha. I can't remember ever taking one off the hook. I'm sure I have but I don't really know how to do it. I should YouTube that shit. There's catfish everywhere I fish. Last thing I need is to explain to the wife why I shot a hole in my boat...We used to let noobs just grab em en shit, and not tell about their fins.
Shit fucking hurts.
Man, I was a dick. lulz

It's the fin spines that freak me out. Hard to keep those bastards from wounding you if you aren't careful. I'm always afraid that I'm going to get barbed & get some sort of infection because of it.Catfish creak me out man. I don't know what it is. yes I do. It's the whiskers. They creep me out. The big ones don't move as fast and are easier to handle. The smaller, squirrely bastards are the ones that scare me the most. Won't stop flippin around when you're trying to get your hook out.Their dorsal and pectoral fins will sting the fuck out of ya.
Grab from the top, with the palm of yer hand in front of the dorsal fin, but your fingers behind the pectoral fins.
Fuckers hurt when they get ya.
