For those who are waiting to walk down the aisle & hear those important words....this is your pilot speaking, I'm going to try to update which countries may be opening up soon & their requirements.
It may change over time with some deciding not to or put additional restrictions in so I'll try to keep track of it.
As of today, here's some who've proposed reopening.
Iceland (mid June).
They will open to general tourists beyond the EEA/EFTA group. They will require either a recent medical certificate showing covid status or offer one with same day results at the airport. If you test negative, you do not have to do the 14 quarantine others may have to do without a test.
Icelandic Air is flying out of Boston which is also one of the 13 airports Americans must come back through according to our national travel requirements. Upon returning, you'll have to fill out some medical paperwork, take a screening & be "advised" to do a 14 day quarantine when you return home.
Iceland's tours & travel is fully open.
Greece (July 1).
Similar to Iceland, an onsite test is available. Unlike Iceland, though, very few things will be open.
Maldives (potentially mid July)
No details at this time on requirements to enter. Visa on demand has been discontinued for several months. The problem is in getting there. At this point, flights would require transit through several countries, including Qatar, Singapore or Hong Kong, none of which are allowing transit passengers currently.
Emirates and Qatar Air have announced plans to resume flights there but no word on if their countries will allow transit passengers coming from other countries. Stay tuned.
Bali (maybe October)
Had planned to reopen in May to Chinese tourists (oh just super). That was, wisely, put on hold. Now the new timeline is potentially in October. No details at this point on requirements.
Now, I spend a lot of time in Indonesia, one of my favorite places. And, yes, Bali, has faired better than many places there but there is just no way I'm trusting of them & the government after they so blatantly lied to their own people & the country is so far flung, no telling where there are still hot spots. Just MNO.
These are the ones I know of for now. I've found a couple potential in the Caribbean but need to do a bit more research.
