Solid signing if he can play 14+ games. This helps the pass rush a lot because he is a talented vet even if injury prone and we got a lot of youth at the position. Marsh and Ansah will be leaned on by these young guys.

I like this a lot, and I think it was a crucial move after trading Frank. I don't know if Ansah will play better in 2019 than Frank Clark would have here, but just in terms of on-paper value I think the FO nailed this whole transaction chain -- trading Clark for a 1st & 2nd round picks, turning that draft capital into a total of 11 picks with 1 of them being a promising DE, and freeing up $17M in cap space that was in part used to add the best edge guy on the free agent market.

It's hard for me not to really like what's happened this off-season when you also factor in the long term extension for RW, signing Iupati, bringing back KJ, signing Kendricks, and there's probably still another good move or 2 to come (like extending Bobby). Time will tell how it all works out, but I like it a lot from this angle.

Actually what they have said is he should be ready by the middle of August BUT even if he has a setback it would still only be week 3-4 of the regular season. Then someone made another article after that one that said this and it repeated everything else they said in the first article but then added "wont be ready till week 3-4" of regular season. Lets hope Kendricks gets to play and Ansah + Baldwin are ready to go week 1.

If a few pieces fall into place we could have one of the more talented younger rosters in the NFL.

This sounds promising. Health is the question for this guy. Incentives will help motivate him to stay on the field, but no way to know tell the season rolls around and play begins.:hope:
Got to love the way Pete and JS find a way to build a roster.

to be honest i was expecting another "no stone unturned" these past 2 offseasons ( like 2010-11 ). Shocked it didn't happen. I think that just speaks volumes about the lack of talent this team had on it when Pete and John took over.

I hadn't heard that. Are you sure it's regular season and not pre?

Hope it is the pre-season, that would be a blow to what is looking like a solid defensive line.

Possibly out the first 3 or 4 weeks to start the regular season.

Yah... we really need to beat the Bengals and the Cards should be fairly easy given their rebuild mode (just make sure to give Murray some shit cleats). If we can get past week 4 at 2-2 (Saints/Rams I feel are going to march all over us, fortunately one is a home game) and get Ansah back along with hopefully some development of Collier I think we're in a decent position.

If that Rams game is home, I think Seattle can beat them. Gurly has bad knees and the staff has video of NE defensive attack on Goff and slowing him down. If not 2-2 is still a good start.

I heard that report as well, but the word from the Seahawks is that they expect him to be ready by the regular season for what it's worth.

Since it's just a 1 year deal, if he's able to even give us 8-10 productive games, I'm a fan of the move.

Even better news if he's ready week 1.

Does anyone have a link to a report saying he's likely to miss the first month of the regular season? Everything I've seen/heard said mid to late Aug. There was just a panel on NFLN a few days ago right after we signed him, and they all said the same thing -- that he was projected to be ready to play for the real games.

Schefter's report of the signing included information that Ansah could miss a month of regular season time.

Rapoport has reported Ansah is expected to be ready for the start of the season.
