The bad part is it's happened more than once...and with different coaches.

I just don't understand how that happens. That takes two different players, one out of position and turned around, to be completely unaware of what's happened in the game.

expect as much out of zaire as they got out of appleby.......rather sit through a season of franks or trask. and if they struggle than the "renowned qb whisperer" mcelwain can hit the bricks.

um, Zaire is already better than Appleby could ever dream of.

Doesn't mean he's great or better than Franks, but Appleby just was not good.

Franks is an unknown hard to say if he's a better option than him.

But he also isn't the ideal fit for McElwain's offense either.

I know texas wanted him, but giving Buechele another year is probably better for the program anyway.

Texas has 2 scholarship QBs on the roster, so they are looking at any transfer with a pulse. Having a freshmen QB that had reasonable success on the roster isn't helping. Most transfers are looking for a guaranteed starting spot

Yeah i just meant that long term you probably want to know what you have with Buch considering you have 2 QBs in next year's class.

2 were taken just to get to a reasonable number of QBs. I don't think it really has much to do with Beuchele's ability or performance. Getting tired of starting Freshmen QBs. Texas hasn't had a healthy QB room, since Colt' s freshmen or sophomore year. Might help explain the last 5 years

He missed practically all of the 2015 season, but I don't know if he got an extra year or not. He's a graduate transfer(he redshirted his freshman season)

Depth the most important thing. I think they want to red shirt Elhinger (4 star true freshmen)

Yeah, ok, makes perfect sense.

my initial comment was about who would be better for the program from a starting QB standpoint, not in terms of adding QB depth (which every team needs, obviously).

we wanted him because our starter is a sophomore, and his backup is a true freshman. Having an upperclassman with at least some experience would have allowed Sam Ehlinger to possibly redshirt. Just let Buechelle and Zaire play. But if Texas had got Zaire, not sure he'd have started over Buechelle.
