None of Jackson's championship teams had even an average point guard. The Bulls started Paxson, B.J. Armstrong and Ron Harper at 1 during their championship years. Harper was not a floor spacer.

In fact, the triangle is known for being an offense that you don't need a point guard to run because of its reliance on team ball movement and spacing. In theory, any player can be your focal point from any position within the offense.

It is also true, however, that Jackson did not win those titles because of the triangle. He won them because he had Jordan, Pippen, Shaq and Kobe. Many other teams have tried to run it over the years, none have been successful. Great players make any offense look good. The Knicks don't have great players. I think it is likely true that Jackson would like to see his next coach implement the triangle, but that is kind of silly. No coach is going to duplicate Jackson's success in NY, so he should not try to force them to run his offense.

we'll have to agree to disagree..and that's all good....but those teams pretty much won their titles mainly by playing stellar defense, as well as having great scoring combos....and solid coaching.

Paxson was decent, wouldn't call him below average and was a floor spacer. He fucking killed the Lakers when the Bulls won their first title (and I still hate him for it. lol). Scott kept leaving him to double MJ, MJ kept finding him and he kept knocking down shots. I thought he was the true MVP of that series.

Kerr was better than average and also a floor spacer. Harper was also at least average, but I agree, no floor spacer.

Kerr and Paxson were fantastic shooters, but they were never asked to play the role of a traditional point guard. Pippen acted as more of the point on those teams. So, yes, Paxson was a good player and Kerr was a fantastic 3 point specialist, but neither player was a prototypical PG.

I don't disagree with any of that...

The Bulls were probably the greatest defensive team of all time and they had great coaching. The triangle worked just fine for them, but you seem to be implying that the reason The triangle worked for the Bulls is because they had good point guard play. That isn't the case. The Bulls never had a traditional point guard during their championship runs.
