Yes, that about sums it up. Do you know Lonzo Ball? Is he a nice kid?

No, but he certainly seems to take his father's excesses in stride, was a leader for UCLA and stays out of trouble. He seems a bit soft-spoken and reserved, likely from someone else in the family never stopping to breathe lol.

OK. fair enough. He is paying for the sins of his father though. Fans are going to take it out on him.

He will be drafted based on teams' evaluations of his value on the court, minus potential off court hassles.
His dad would be a red flag to me if I was evaluating him.

Agreed. It will be on the road where he will be harassed

He won't be given grief unless his father brings it. He has the option of telling pops to cool it. If he choses to walk with him, he is bringing it on himself.

But does Lonzo have the option of "Pops listening" ? I doubt it.

It is not surprising (based on what I read) that the High School coach quit after this season -- with two more Balls coming at him. I don't think he really appreciated the father yelling defensive sets from the stands.

What would concern me more is Lonzo's mid-range, pick-and-roll game. He showed none of this at UCLA. As Kyrie showed last night ... it is a great skill for an NBA PG to have.

Me too. He's a coach killer. he already got his son's high school coach fired.

Lakers already to spoke to UCLA. The Bruins had no issues with LaVar, and they are likely getting all 3 of his kids.

Magic Johnson appears to have no issue with Mr. Ball either. Compared him to that old gasbag, Kris Jenner, but that was about it.

Fitting, since the Lakers just hired Kim K's trainer Gunnar Peterson to be their strength and endurance training director. Of course, he has worked with professional athletes as well (NBA, NFL, NHL, UTA, Boxing) as well as actors, but Kim's name draws the views (along with Sofia Vergera, JLo and Angelina Jolie), not Sampras or even Bruce Willis, Hugh Jackman or Sly Stallone.

Ah, so that's what the cats on ESPN were laughing about this morning saying "Only in L.A."

If Ball distances himself from Pop's circus nobody will taint him with it, at least nobody who counts. Of course some fans will try to get in his head on the road, it goes with the territory.

I'm sure keeping on Pop's good side is about getting those kids.
If they did criticize LaVar, they'd likely have asked Lakers' management to keep it quiet.

Being there are other players in the top 4 to 6 with equal upside, why take him when he has potential to be disruptive ? To me he becomes a good risk from 6 to 10.

The middle kid is nothing special. UCLA has no problem getting recruits.

If I am the Lakers I trade him to Philly and take the 3 pick and Saric.

What sense does Saric make for the Lakers? They already have Randle (who is on the verge of averaging a double/double) and Nance, two promising players. Sixers need Saric anyway.
