Its crazy that if the Cubs and Cards met in the 1 game playoff, the Cards would've had a better chance against the Cubs even with Arrieta on the mound.

The Cards peaked early and ran out of gas. The Cubs are a young team peaking late. It is what it is.

If the Pirates would've won the division, the Cards and Cubs would've played the play-in game in STL with Lackey pitching for STL. It would've been a better shot for the Cards to beat the Cubs. Not sure the Cards had a route to the WS or anything with their pitching falling off like it did, though. Or maybe the Cubs are badasses. We'll see.

Sidenote - glad people are talking about Back to the Future series. Good stuff.
