Despite baseball's highest opening-day payroll at $230 million, the Yankees failed to claim one of the 10 playoff berths. The Yankees lost for the eighth time in 11 games and were eliminated from contention for a playoff berth on their own field for the first time since 1991.

Meanwhile, the Braves continued their heavy-handed ways last night with the Brew Crew.

Brian McCann's antics are tired already. Gomez was obviously being a dick, but come on. Who does McCann think he is and what is it he's protecting? The Braves and their righteous indignation is old. Standing 10' out in front of home plate, blocking it sot he runner can't go past? Gomez should have decked his ass.

Oh and nice to see Zito end his career with a solid performance against the Dodgers. No doubt it was nice for him to leave Chavez and drive a few minutes up to the Beverly Hills palace. Or maybe he felt more like the Malibu beach house. :noidea:

Yeah but the whole showing up the pitcher by just standing there after hitting a homer is getting very old as well. Your job is to hit a home run... Act like you've done it before! Hit it and run the bases. I can see why the Braves were pissed. However McCann wasn't too bright, he was in the post season, don't do anything stupid to possibly get suspended.... Gomez is not worth it

Braves and D-Backs need to get off their high horses already. Braves are as whiny as the TLR Cardinals.

Glad the sites back up. Gomez is a bitch. I would've "accidentally" tripped his punk ass at the plate.

I'm sure the padres and Red Sox would allow for some punk to show his ass on their home field

Nope it was ruled catcher interference

Lets see braves lose their best player ( freeman ) for the game and lose the home field advantage

GOMEZ WINS:suds:

It wasn't just one then. He almost hit a grand slam his 2nd time up, which was caught, then, just missed a homer in his 3rd a.b, which went for a double.

And, speaking of Helton, I think his football skills would have translated into an NFL career. Which made me think, I wonder if Peyton could hit a curve ball? ( hope you know the UT backstory )
