WWE announced today that its shuttering the WWE Network. Instead, they've cut a deal where all of their streaming content will move over to NBC's Peacock streaming service. The library, original shows, new PPVs are will now all be on Peacock starting in mid-March. The price for Peacock (for now) is also cheaper than what the old WWE Network is so not only will you get the WWE content, you'll get the other stuff Peacock has to offer. Peacock is 5 bucks a month right now and an ad free version is 10 bucks.

I might still have it because I'm Canadian and have no access to peacock.

HOWEVER.

It's something that I have to keeping an eye on because Sportsnet, Canada's WWE home, also has a streaming service called Sportsnet now.

From what I've read, this only affects US customers. All international people will still have the WWE Network

The inevitable result of cable becoming a collection of streaming services. "Cutting the cord" used to be about saving money instead of buying an all-in-one cable package, but now we're moving in the direction of paying more for less content.

The Wall Street Journal is reporting that the announcement of NBC's Peacock streaming service taking over the WWE Network is a five year deal worth over $1 Billion in revenue for WWE, making the deal worth $200 million a year, if those numbers are correct.

At least now, when NXT's contract is up in the fall, they can just move it to Peacock and air the hockey games during the Wednesday slot NXT currently occupies.

FYI, if any of you have Xfinity, there's a chance you get Peacock (and thus WWE content) for free.

Yeah, from my understanding it's free if you have Xfinity and have to pay $5 if you want it ad free.

Peacock has a reported 26 million subscribers, this is a big win for WWE. More potential eyes on your product the better.

I thought USA asked wwe for more hours and that’s why it went on cable.

I hope it does so aew gets the night to itself.

it’s the best chance to make everyone step their game up

It’d be a win win for everyone if NXT moved to Tuesday’s. Both of their ratings would go up. But to Vince, he’d never do it because he doesn’t want to be the one to back off.

I'm not. Three different companies having access to their products is likely to piss one or both of the others off. NBC/Universal has been real good to them, so it's not surprising that they want to stay in their good graces.

I thought the WWE/Disney relationship soured during the Smackdown negotiations?

I don’t think it soured that much as ESPN was one of the main places in talk to buy the network last year when the news first came out.

I don’t think so. ESPN showed some old ppv’s back in the summer when there were no sports going on.

Well I know that. Guess I don’t remember where I read it, thought there was an issue because ESPN wanted Smackdown then their parent company gave Fox billions of dollar which allowed Fox to outbid ESPN. I remember they showed old ppv’s but everyone cable station was dying for content at the moment because Tiger King had more viewers than most networks combined.
